2017 Traditional Arts Camp descriptions
Week #1 – “Summer Blast-Off”
June 12-16
Start off summer by embarking on a journey that is out of this world! Explore
space and science fiction-themed lessons that will stretch to the furthest reaches
of your imagination.
Week #2 – “Creative Kingdom”
June 19 – June 23
“Hear Ye, Hear Ye!” Tell your artistic tale…experience a week full of mythical,
magical and imaginative fun! Bring fantasies to life while exploring painting,
pottery, printmaking and more. Learn artistic techniques that will leave you
creating happily ever after…day or “knight”!
Week #3 – “Sense-Sational!”
June 26 - June 30
Experience art through all of the senses in this fun session that will focus on
sight, sound, smell, taste and touch. Learn about artists who relied on their
senses to make a mark in art history.
Week #4 – “Stars & Stripes”
July 3-7* (*no camp Tuesday 7/4)
Celebrate America through the arts in the most PATRIOTIC session of summer
camp. Participate in creative lessons that pay homage to Uncle Sam, Lady
Liberty and our very own Star-Spangled Banner. You’ll be marching home with
your portfolio and pride after this Yankee-Doodle of a week!
Week #5 – “Puzzles & Palettes”
July 10-14
Do you love solving problems, finding creative solutions and working on puzzles,
mazes and games WHILE learning about and making art? Join us for this unique
and challenging session of arts camp that embraces using your imagination and
creativity to build, connect and solve artistic challenges in the studio with your
friends!
Week #6 – “California Dreamin’”
July 17-21
From sunny surf and sunsets to the glitzy glam of Hollywood, explore the Golden
State through an artist’s point of view while discovering lessons infused with
California fun!
Week #7 – “Time Warp!”
July 24-28
Step into the IFAC Time Machine and be transported to decades past, present
and future. Journey through different art genres while painting, drawing, and
sculpting your way through new, fantastic and futuristic creative dimensions…
Week #8 – “Dream in Color”
July 31 – August 4
Embark on a colorful cruise through a dreamy Technicolor euphoria! Investigate
uses, expressions, and meanings of color in everyday life. Learn how color
influences everything around us, and the feelings that colors spark from
everything to what we eat to how we communicate.
Week #9 – “Art a la Mode”
August 7-11
With a scoop of fun, a pinch of adventure, a dollop of originality and a dash of
creativity, we’re serving up a week of culinary-inspired art lessons complete with
a cherry on top! Paint, draw, print and more while acknowledging artists who use
the kitchen as their influence and imagination as their secret ingredient.
Week #10 – “Artapalooza”
August 14-18
Celebrate the final week of summer arts camp with a chance to participate in a
creative celebration with your new friends! Spend the week practicing with
various studio techniques and strengthening skills in painting, drawing, sculpture
and design. Wrap up the week partying in a colorful closing-camp carnival for
IFAC families and friends and enjoying one last IFAC summer BBQ!
