ABOUT PURE™ EXTENSIONS
PURE™ uses the highest quality hair available called REMY hair. PURE™ Extensions are eco-friendly, which means PURE not only
uses recycled materials and packaging but our extensions are free of harsh chemicals that damage the client and the environment. The less invasive coloring process of PURE™ hair in the factory allow the hair to remain in its most unaltered state. This quality
of hair allows your client to wear it longer than traditional hair extensions. Also, they are reusable and do not need to be discarded
until the client is ready for change.
If the client is educated on maintaining her PURE™ Extensions and follows the recommended guidelines, PURE™ extensions can
last up to 3 times longer than traditional extensions! Also, keep in mind that the cylinders used to attach the extensions should be
replaced every visit.

THE CONSULTATION
When introducing a client to the PURE™ Extensions system, the consultation is essential. During the consultation, you
will want to ask your client what she likes and dislikes about her hair.
EDUCATE your client on how PURE™ Extenisions are used to create the hair they desire, making them look and feel beautiful.
COMMUNICATE Find out exactly what she wants—added length, volume, texture, and/or color
& highlights.
CLARIFY why PURE™ is the absolute best product available for what she wants. Have the client
complete a client profile form. [see next page] A comprehensive client profile form includes questions that focus on a client’s desires, hair issues, her home styling routine, budget considerations, and any past experiences with hair extensions.
After listening to your clients desires and analyzing her natural hair length, hair type, density, and condition, you are
ready to make style and application decisions. Be sure to explain your vision and let your client see your enthusiasm
and excitement during the consultation.

THE PREPARATION
1
Shampoo prior to application.
2
Use a deep cleansing shampoo at least twice to remove any foreign matter that could alter the application.
3
Do not use a conditioner or leave-in conditioner after
cleansing.
4
Dry hair thoroughly before applying PURE™ Extensions.
Flat iron hair for smooth application.
BASIC APPLICATION
1
Pull hair through threader.
2
Push PURE™ Extensions tip into cylinder.
3
With tool, squeeze cylinder keeping low elevation so hair and cylinder lie flat. Squeeze the bottom of the cylinder horizontal
and the top diagonal.
7
™
As you attach each strand, it is important to create an even amount of tension across the base. If the tension is uneven, the added weight of the PURE™ Extensions may cause breakage to the client’s natural strands.
To achieve the best, even tension application, you should always stand right behind the section you are working on, remember to position the client at the right
height. Pull the sections toward your feet and not your torso.
While your client is wearing PURE™ Extensions, she will experience normal hair loss. Strands that would fall out naturally
will remain attached to the head, trapped in the cylinders and to the PURE™ Extensions. As these strands of hair are
naturally released there are fewer strands of hair to support the PURE™ Extensions. Thus, it is important to pick up
enough hair during first application. In months to come, you may choose to reapply PURE™ Extensions to certain
sections to prolong the life of the extensions. It is normal for your client to lose a few strands a month. Advise them to
keep the extensions and bring them back to the salon at their next adjustment appointment. At this time you may reapply any extensions that have fallen out.
8
™
THINGS TO ALWAYS REMEMBER
The secret to a flawless application is to always keep the parting and sectioning very organized and precise
Being prepared prior to your client’s appointment will save you time and money.
Never slice the PURE™ Extensions to make them thinner: this will cause the bond to break down and the hair to shed.
If needed you should order the delicate strands prior to application.
When sliding the cylinder onto the strand, allow room for the section to move back and forth: if the cylinders are too close to the
head, your client might experience discomfort, create a waterfall effect and result in some breakage.
Your cylinders should always line up in clean, even rows. All cylinders should look evenly spaced, and crimped flat to the head’s
curve.
Prior to application, always cleanse hair twice with hair cleansing cream to remove all foreign matter.
For the best results, hair should be at least 6 inches from the top of the head.
Cylinders should match client’s roots, not the PURE™ Extensions color.
Cylinders should be replaced at each refitting.
We advise that you keep a nicely organized file for each client to store any extra hair and cylinders.
Remind client to brush their hair as much as possible using a natural bristle brush, or wide tooth comb.
Typically, most hair extensions start matting after the fourth week. Refitting every four weeks will keep PURE™ Extensions
looking and feeling beautiful.
Remember: If you are having any issues, we suggest that you go over your application technique,
or contact the PURE™Extensions team.

Do carefully plan your PURE™ Extensions application pattern. Determine how many
subsections or rows will be applied. Determine the size of the bond strands to be
used in each area, adapting to density changes as you proceed.

equal to the amount of added hair. This avoids excessive stress on the natural
hair.
Do make sure the bases are narrow enough to allow for natural movement of the
added strands. If the bases are too wide, excessive burden is placed on the natural hair at the bases outside edges.
Do make sure your PURE™ Extensions client understands the maintenance necessary to keep extensions in optimum condition and looking their best. This is a commitment, well worth the time and maintenance.

Proper care of your hair extensions is essential. By following some simple guidelines you will extend the life of your extensions. You must not treat
your extensions as you would your natural hair. With all extensions, effort is required to maintain beautiful healthy looking hair. How long your
extensions last will be up to you.
SHAMPOO
It is best to shampoo your hair every 2 to 3 days with a gentle shampoo and conditioner. Avoid all products that contain alcohol. Alcohol
will dry out your extensions. Use a spray-on conditioner between shampoos.
Before shampooing, comb your hair and remove all tangles with a wide tooth comb.
Gradually wet the hair with mixture of conditioner
and water before shampooing.
Gently run the shampoo throughout the entire length of the hair in a downward motion without rubbing.
Be sure to rinse the shampoo out in the same
downward direction.
CONDITION
• Condition your hair after every shampoo
• Apply the conditioner three inches away from the scalp. Do not apply conditioner directly on the area of attachment.
• Rinse well in a downward direction working out any tangles with your
fingers.
• Do not rub your hair with a towel after shampooing; gently squeeze
the towel around the hair to absorb the excess moisture.
MOISTURIZE
You will need to add moisturizing to your routine. If you do not moisturize your hair extensions, they will become dry. Use a non-greasy leavein conditioner to keep your hair soft, but don’t over do it. Too much
conditioner causes build up and tangling.
STYLING
Never use a brush when your extensions are wet, instead detangle hair
with a wide tooth comb. When brushing dry hair use a soft bristle brush,
start at the ends of your hair and gently work your way up. Always brush
in a downward motion. Do not brush harshly. Brush your hair often. When
styling use extra care when using blow dryers, flatirons and curling irons.
Whenever possible let your hair dry naturally. This will help your extensions
last longer.
HAIR TREATMENTS
Never color, perm, or apply ANY chemicals to your hair extensions. A
licensed salon professional, together with experience in PURE extensions,
should provide all chemical treatments.
GUIDELINES TO PREVENT TANGLING & MATTING
Sleeping: Do not sleep on wet hair. Hair should be dried thoroughly. Tie
hair up in a ponytail or braid it before bed.
Exercise: Always wear your hair in a braid or a ponytail during exercise.
Make a routine of rinsing and conditioning your hair after exercising.
Swimming: Avoid prolonged exposure to chlorine. Before swimming,
comb out any tangles that may be present. Braid the hair to ensure that
all of the hair is protected; if possible spray some leave-in conditioner in
your hair. Wash and condition your hair immediately after swimming.
AVOID: using blow dryers, curling irons, and flat irons directly at the
point of attachment. Avoid products with wax, alcohol silicone or sulfur.
Avoid scrubbing or rubbing the hair.
Plan on visiting your hair stylist every 4 to 6 weeks for adjustments. This will guarantee that your hair will remain beautiful for months to come!
REFITTING
Allow approximately 10 minutes per row for refitting. For five rows of extensions, you are looking at possibly an hour for refitting. The national average for refitting is $80 to $100 per hour, depending on your comfort in styling and pricing, but we
suggest that you do not short yourself and charge in that range.
Procedure for Refitting
Using your fingers, part off the bottom row.
Starting at the bottom row, work from the center out to the sides.
Center to Right, Center to Left or Vice-Versa.
Always keep enough cylinders of all colors on hand.
Work your way to the top row brushing through each section for neatness.
When you are done, you should wash, style and add a new service.
$80-100 should include the refitting and any new cylinders.
If you have to replace another strand due to tip break down,
that should be included as well. It doesn’t take any additional time.

PROMOTIONAL IDEAS & SUGGESTIONS
The front desk is your most important tool! Keep your receptionist informed about PURE™
Extensions. Give him/her the information to best answer questions over the phone. Apply
PURE™ Extensions on your receptionist to get him/her motivated to promote the PURE™
Extensions service in your salon.
Keep your mannequin head visible for consultations. You may want to apply a full head
application with regular strands, by cutting, styling and coloring. You may also do a mannequin with highlights.
Have PURE™ Extensions brochures available for consultation. The brochures can be most
effective when used for promotions, i.e. tanning salons, bridal boutiques, health clubs,
cosmetic surgery offices, modeling agencies and dance clubs.
Invite local media into your salon. Most beauty editors are always looking for something
new to share with their readers and audience, i.e. newspapers, television stations, local
magazines
The front desk person is the most important person in promoting PURE™ Extensions.
Have someone in the salon wearing PURE™ Extensions or PURE Radicals.
Have a completed mannequin head with PURE™
Extensions applied.
Have PURE™ Extensions posters up and in the
windows.
Have a look book of all your clients who won’t
mind their pictures shown.
Have client nights to invite prospective PURE™ Extensions clients into your salon. Perform
the service and have one completed model done. Make it a wine and cheese event.
REMEMBER: Presentation without demonstration is merely conversation!
Invite local news, radio and TV to come see the
new thing in hair extensions.
Build a portfolio of your work. Take before and after pictures of your clients. Include letters
of praise and thank you cards from your PURE™ Extensions clients. Also include magazine
excerpts of celebrities wearing PURE™ Extensions.
Place brochures in local cosmetic surgery offices, tanning salons, bridal boutiques, health
clubs.
Advertise! Speak to your PURE™ Extensions representative regarding what has been most
effective for other PURE™ Extensions advertisers.
Place PURE™ Extensions on your website, business cards, service menu and phone book ad.

clients know of your speciality, i.e. “certified PURE™ Extensions Technician”, PURE™ Extensions Extentionist”, or “PURE™ Extensions Specialist”.
Create your own PURE™ Extensions brochures.
PURE™ Extensions recommends that you complete at least 2 full head applications or 1
lengthening, 1 volumizing, 1 highlight color before beginning promotional efforts.
Word of mouth is the most powerful promotional
tool, so talk about PURE™ Extensions.

LENGTH & DENSITY
PLACEMENT PATTERNS
Continuous : Builds Volume
Bases are picked up across the complete row with no natural hair left between sections. PURE™ Extensions strands are
placed continuously though a row to achieve a heavy
concentration of length and density. Using horizontal sec-
tions helps to add density quickly.
16
™
LENGTH WITH LAYERS
Curved sections are great
for movement with layers.
Horizontal sections build
weight and length.

™

19
™
ALTERNATED HIGHLIGHTS
Sections are picked up at intervals along the rows, leaving natural hair between sections. Strands are placed in an alternating
pattern with the client’s own hair to achieve moderate amount of density and fullness. Alternation patterns may vary in the
proportion of added hair to natural hair. Alternation can accentuate fullness, particularly when used throughout the interior.
20
™
HIGHLITES LOWLITES
Wide tops make for heavier streaks
Narrow tops make for softer streaks
21
™
SCATTERED
Square sections are picked up sporadically, dictated by natural growth patterns and desired results. This creates a diffused effect and generally calls for standard and half point strands. Using this pattern, the proportion of natural hair
substantially increases in comparison to added strands, achieving less density. This pattern is ideal for adding volume
through the interior and specific areas such as the crown or fringe, or for adding color and texture in partial areas.
Design principles discussed earlier may come into play as you select the right placement patterns. Whether using continuous, alternated or scattered placement patterns, you should consider using repetition, alternating, progression and
contrast to produce the desired effects in length, density, color, and texture.
22
™
CUTTING
When lengthening a blunt solid cut, the weight
line area needs to be softened using your blending shear diagonally.
Volumizing, color or textural effects can be added to any shape, and then cut to blend with
pre-existing lengths.
It is recommended that the client’s hair be approximately 5 inches long for full head lengthening and no less than 6 inches long for all other
services. Lengthening hair shorter than 3 to 4
inches will prove difficult to blend with the client’s
natural lengths and bonds will be visible.
23
™
DENSITY BLENDING & CUTTING
Pick up small sections of hair and hold them away from the head to achieve the desired amount of graduation in the perimeter.
Slide cut downward along the strands. Note that the hair is projected at a low angle to sculpt the perimeter graduation and that it
is projected at a higher angle to sculpt layers within the interior lengths. Use pivotal partings to work through one side of the head.
Define the perimeter line after sculpting the layers and graduation.
24
™
COLOR RETOUCH
ZONE 1 RETOUCH IN RED
REGROWTH
Upon application of PURE™ Extensions, all color or highlighting work should be performed on that day or two days prior to the application.
In 4 weeks when the client returns for an refitting, apply color around the hairline
and everywhere where PURE™ Extensions are not placed, being careful to avoid
the cylinders. While the color is processing, take the opportunity to do a refitting
on the PURE™ Extensions that have grown out over the last month, which should
take as long as the processing. If you feel that you will not have enough time,
we recommend that you block off more time to refit after the color has been
removed.
You will be able to use this method of color retouching up to 3 months.
By the three month mark, using the “head shapes” page provided by in the
back of this manual (the educator will demonstrate this for you), start from the very
top section and remove extensions from the middle of the heard working
left to right. The row on the top ends up on the very bottom of the head
chart. Work your way down the head, row by row, middle to left, back to
middle to the right, laying the strands on the next row of the hard chart.
The strands from the client’s nape will end up on the very top of the head
chart.
Now all PURE™ Extensions are out and a full head color service can be
done to refresh the client’s hair all over.
When finished coloring or highlighting, wash, dry and flat iron the client’s hair.
Starting again at the nape, remove the PURE™ Extensions starting at the top
middle of the chart going from left or right first, your choice.
It’s not important to find the exact row. Actually, it’s good to be off a bit so as to
allow for hair growth. You can take the strands off of the chart and match it to the
client’s hair to see where the length will fit.
