Getting paid for products that work
Functional Product Innovation, FPI, is all about getting paid for
products that work and do not fail. FPI promotes maximizing
performance with minimum resource usage and is therefore
an important contribution to sustainable growth. In FP
businesses, the providers offer a function to customers at
an agreed-upon level of availability and cost. The ownership
and responsibility of the hardware and additional support and
management systems remain at the provider throughout the
life-cycle, enabling a possibility to continuously improve the
customer and provider values.
RESULTS
Participation within the Faste Laboratory has led to actions
in our partner companies towards:
a change in business direction - from a hardware oriented
situation towards a more service oriented situation with
new business models strongly related to functional
product provision
n adopting results related to analysis of monitored data in
order to optimize the operation of the functional product
n more effective value chains with FPI business models
minimizing resource use per function performance and
improved business decisions to manage risk and
availability issues
n an easy transition of employees from academia to
industry which, besides the workforce itself, gives a
knowledge transfer without any intermediaries
ABOUT THE FASTE LABORATORY
The Faste Laboratory is a globally recognized consortium
regarding research and utilization of FPI. We have been
operating since 2005 with a total turnover of 21 MSEK
per year. In the Faste Laboratory a research team of
30 researchers work in close collaboration with 50
representatives from six industrial partners.
