Orientation sessions

Attendance at the orientation sessions is required of all foreign students.

Linguistic knowledge, prerequisite,
preliminary French lessons, level

For regular semesters:
Language of tuition is French for most of the courses. Consequently, we ask
exchange students to reach a level B1 in French at least to be able to attend
courses properly.
A module of French as a Foreign Language is offered at the beginning of each
semester (30 hours in group).
In addition, you might also want to sign up for French courses within the
framework of the PRES "Université de Toulouse" (150€ per module). Please
contact Sarah PRINCE/Delphine SEGUI for more information: subscription
according to calendar and places (modules of 15 to 30 hours)
Some courses are taught in English (MSc Eurama, MSc AREM).

We can help you finding accommodation upon request and according to availabilities and
offers received. Our possibilities:

room rents in private housing

sharing a flat with other students (only a few offers per semester)

studios or flats (only a few offers per semester)

ICAM-EI PURPAN residence (only a few offers per semester for students staying for
10 months minimum)




Academic structure
Bachelor = 3 years (total of 180 ECTS)
Ingénieur = 5 years (BSc + 2 years at MSc level (120 ECTS) = Total 300 ECTS)
Credit system
ECTS (European Credit Transfer System).
Workload of a full-time student:
30 ECTS per semester
60 ECTS per academic year
Students coming for 4 to 6 months should choose 15-20 ECTS during semester 1 and
20-25 ECTS during semester 2 (courses/practical work + eventually research).
Grading system
EI PURPAN applies the ECTS grading scale (but applies a module average system for
PURPAN students). Local examinations are graded from 1 to 20, and translate into
ECTS grades as follows (see table below). However, to validate a course*, foreign
students must obtain at least 9,5/20. Some courses may not be graded but validated
based on attendance, and still be awarded credits.
* some courses may be compensated following Purpan’s compensation rules
