WE ASK GOD TO BE WITH US (PRAYER OF INVOCATION)
(at the close of the prayer, please join us in reciting “The Lord’s Prayer” below)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy
will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And
forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
forever. Amen.
“PRAISE TO THE LORD, THE ALMIGHTY”
Trinity Hymnal #53
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O, my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation!
All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near;
Join me in glad adoration.
Praise to the Lord, who o'er all things so wondrously reigneth,
Shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustaineth!
Hast thou not seen how thy desires e’er have been,
Granted in what He ordaineth?
Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee!
Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee;
Ponder anew what the Almighty will do,
If with His love He befriend thee.
Praise to the Lord, who with marvelous wisdom hath made thee,
Decked thee with health, and with loving hand guided and stayed thee,
How oft in grief hath not He brought thee relief,
Spreading His wings to o’er-shade thee!
Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore Him!
All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him!
Let the amen sound from His people again;
Gladly for-e’er we adore Him.
WE CONFESS OUR SINS TOGETHER
Our Father, forgive us for thinking small thoughts of you and for ignoring your
immensity and greatness. Lord Jesus, forgive us when we forget that you rule the
nations and our small lives. Holy Spirit, we offend you in minimizing your power
and squandering your gifts. We confess that our blindness to your glory, O triune
God, has resulted in shallow confession, tepid conviction, and only mild repentance. Have mercy upon us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
WE CONFESS OUR SINS IN OUR HEARTS
(Silently)
GOD ASSURES US WE ARE FORGIVEN: Psalm 16:1-2
1 Preserve
me, O God, for in you I take refuge. 2 I say to the LORD, “You are my
Lord; I have no good apart from you.”
“COME, YE SINNERS”
Come, ye sinners, poor and wretched,
Weak and wounded, sick and sore;
Jesus, ready, stands to save you,
Full of pity, joined with power.
He is able, He is able;
He is willing; doubt no more.
Come ye needy, come, and welcome,
God's free bounty glorify;
True belief and true repentance,
Every grace that brings you nigh.
Without money, without money,
Come to Jesus Christ and buy.
Come, ye weary, heavy laden,
Bruised and broken by the fall;
If you tarry 'til you're better,
You will never come at all.
Not the righteous, not the righteous;
Sinners Jesus came to call.
Let not conscience make you linger,
Nor of fitness fondly dream;
All the fitness He requires,
Is to feel your need of Him.
This He gives you, this He gives you,
'Tis the Spirit's rising beam.
Lo! The Incarnate God, ascended;
Pleads the merit of His blood.
Venture on Him; venture wholly,
Let no other trust intrude.
None but Jesus, none but Jesus,
Can do helpless sinners good.

WE PRAISE GOD FOR HIS BLESSINGS (“DOXOLOGY”)

What do we pray for in the third petition?
SERMON TEXT:
In the third petition, which is, “Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven,” we
pray that God, by his grace, would make us able and willing to know, obey, and
submit to his will in all things, as the angels do in heaven.
“WHATE’ER MY GOD ORDAINS IS RIGHT”
Whate’er my God ordains is right, Holy His will abideth.
I will be still whate’er He does, And follow where He guideth.
He is my God, Though dark my road.
He holds me that I shall not fall, Wherefore to Him I leave it all.
the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who
teaches. 7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that
will he also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh
reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap
eternal life. 9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we
will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do
good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
WE HEAR FROM GOD’S WORD:
Whate’er my God ordains is right, He never will deceive me.
He leads me by the proper path, I know He will not leave me.
I take, content, What He hath sent.
His hand can turn my griefs away, And patiently I wait His day.
“Reaping What You Sow”

WE CELEBRATE THE LORD’S SUPPER TOGETHER
(wine is in the outer most ring, grape juice is in the inner rings)
“HE LEADETH ME: O BLESSED THOUGHT!”
Whate’er my God ordains is right, Though now this cup in drinking.
May bitter seem to my faint heart, I take it all unshrinking.
My God is true, Each morn anew.
Sweet comfort yet shall fill my heart, And pain and sorrow shall depart.
Trinity Hymnal #600
He leadeth me: O blessed thought!
O words with heav’nly comfort fraught!
What e’er I do, Where e’er I be,
Still ‘tis God’s hand that leadeth me.
Whate’er my God ordains is right, Here shall my stand be taken.
Though sorrow, need, or death be mine, Yet I am not forsaken.
My Father’s care, Is round me there.
He holds me that I shall not fall, And so to Him I leave it all.
Chorus
He leadeth me, He leadeth me, by His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful foll’wer I would be, for by His hand He leadeth me.

WE WORSHIP GOD BY GIVING TITHES AND OFFERINGS
(Welcome visitors! Please fill out a blue information card, located in a chair pocket, and place in offering plate)
“I’LL NOT BE SHAKEN”
Lord, I would clasp Thy hand in mine,
Nor ever murmur nor repine;
Content, whatever lot I see,
Since ‘tis my God that leadeth me! (Chorus)
And when my task on earth is done,
When, by Thy grace the vict’ry’s won,
E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee,
Since God thru Jordan leadeth me. (Chorus)
WE RECEIVE GOD’S BLESSING OVER US (BENEDICTION)
For God alone I wait in silence. My soul is still before the Lord.
He is my rock and my salvation, my fortress strong; I trust in Him.
POSTLUDE
Chorus
I’ll not be shaken, I’ll not be shaken,
For all my hope is in His love.
From God alone comes my salvation;
I’ll wait and trust His steadfast love.
Put not your hope in gain of riches; Seek not your rest in empty wealth.
The rich are weak, the poor are mighty who turn to God alone for help.
Sometimes ‘mid scenes of deepest gloom,
Sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom,
By waters still, o’er troubled sea,
Still ‘tis His hand that leadeth me! (Chorus)
(Chorus)
Pour out your heart to God our refuge and trust in Him to hear you cry.
No other hope will never fail you, no other love will not run dry. (Chorus)
