New Culinary Director:
Mark Hamre joined the Trails of Orono
team on January 5, 2015. Mark has a
passion for cooking and baking and
comes to us with over 30 years
experience, most recently at another
senior living community as the Assistant
Kitchen Manager. In his free time Mark
enjoys horse racing and caring for his
tropical Discus fish. Both of Mark’s
parents have lived in assisted living
communities so he has a personal
understanding of the importance of
great food and service. Mark will start a
monthly “Coffee with the Chef” activity
in February, please check the activity for
the date/time & join him to talk over
ideas for food and the dining experience
at Trails.

Feel-Good Valentine
Valentine, I feel so
good
Each time that we're
together.
We're similar souls in
harmony,
Birds of a kindred
feather.
Our hearts sing to the
same sweet tune;
Our compatible minds
align;
Could you, would you,
pretty please,
Be my Valentine?

from Full Bloom on
George Burns and Gracie Allen had one
of the most enduring acts in the history
1.
of show business. They were headliners in vaudeville in the 1920s, on
radio in the 1930s and 1940s, and for almost a full decade on
television in the 1950s. She was the scatterbrained queen of the non
sequitur and malapropism, a sublimely ridiculous comic foil whose
timing and teaming with partner and husband George Burns helped
propel the pair to the top ranks of broadcasting’s first roster of
stars. This is the story of George Burns & Gracie Allen two amazing
comedians who had timing on and off screen.

According to Dr. Cynthia Green, “Try
this simple yoga breathing technique
and bring some respite to your day.
Sitting comfortably, breathe deeply
into your diaphragm. Next, exhale with
a soft sighing sound to focus your
attention on the exercise. Now,
breathe in through your nose, slowly
counting to seven. Hold your breath
for a moment. Next, exhale slowly
through your nose, counting to seven.
Repeat this breathing rhythm at least
seven times.” Join us at our daily
exercise group where we will try out
this yoga breathing technique to start
our days off on the right note!
Riddle me this:
What can run but never
walks, has a mouth but
never talks, has a head but
never weeps, has a bed
but never sleeps?
