Second-hand Book Sale

Dear Parents
The annual Parents and Friends’ Second-hand Book Sale will be held at Ballarat Clarendon College in
room 714 in the base of the McKinnon Wing (please see map below). This is a great way for you to
recycle selected text books and to save by acquiring selected text books at a reduced price. The sales
are wholly volunteer-run and last year the sales returned over $10,000 in funds to two hundred school
families.
What’s New in 2013?
The booklists we use for the sale include only the books we can sell, not new titles. The Parents and
Friends will not accept any book unless it is on the list and is the correct edition.
Parents will receive one list for the Book Sale. This Book Sale list is used for both receiving books and
selling books. Extra copies of this list will be available on sale days at the Book Sale room.
Books for sale are to be brought in person to parent volunteers in Room 714 on the days listed below.
This activity is run by volunteers, not by the Clarendon staff. Books should not be left with third parties
such as School offices.
Please complete all details on the Book Sale List and return with your books. Parent volunteers will only
accept books that are on the Book Sale List.
The Book Sale List with details of the cheque recipient and mailing address are important as cheques will
be sent by post after the sale to sellers. Please ensure the cheque recipient details are correct.
All buyers will be able to select their own books from the piles available. Prices are as stated on the Book
Sale List unless marked otherwise.
Novels will all be sold for $10.00 and study notes $8.00. Novels are often marked and highlighted, in
varying conditions. Study guides should be unmarked with no question answers written in them. Books that
are submitted will be sold for up to two-thirds of the booklist price (depending on condition). A missing CD
ROM that should be with a text will earn a deduction from the price and may remain unsold.
Please note that only cash or cheque payment is available on the day. Cheques are to be made out to
P&F Second-hand Books and the family name must be written with a contact phone number on the
reverse. No credit will be given. No exchange/refund can be given after the last sale date.
An amount of 20% is deducted from the sale price as a donation to Parents & Friends, as well as a postage
expense of $1. If you are selling books, Parents & Friends usually aim to have your cheque posted for
books sold by the end of the calendar year.

Unsold books
Parents and Friends have access to limited storage, so any unsold books must be collected between
the hours of 12pm and 2.30pm on Wednesday 4th December. It is our aim to email all families with
books unsold to enable you to collect these.

Any uncollected books by this time will be deemed donated to Parents & Friends for
resale or disposal as Parents & Friends see fit.
The Second-hand Book Sale is a voluntary service provided by members of the Parents & Friends
Association. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the volunteer families who help make this
service available for the benefit of the school community and also thank you for your assistance and
cooperation with these processes. We look forward to seeing you at the Book Sale.
