EXCEL 2007 PROJECT NINE ASSIGNMENT SHEET
In this project you will create a PIZZA ORDER to keep track of orders and the amount of money
to be collected. You will also create a PIE CHART to report data.
In this project you will be guided through these steps:
• setting document margins
• positioning a table horizontally
• saving a document
• changing page orientation
• selecting all cells in a spreadsheet
• setting the date format
• wrapping text
• resizing column width and row height
• setting the number format to currency
• using the fill handle to copy formatting
• setting the number format to percentage

Getting Started
1. Open Microsoft Excel 2007. (Refer to the Pizza Order example at the end of this document.)
2. Setting Document Margins (pp. 78-79) Click the Page Layout tab. Click the Margins list
arrow in the Page Setup group. Click Custom Margins. Change the top and bottom margins
to one inch and the left and right margins to .75. Continue to the next step.
3. Positioning a Table Horizontally In the Center on Page section in Custom Margins, click
Horizontally. Click OK.
4. Saving a Document (pp. 8-9) Click the Office button. Click Save. Type the file name. Click
Save.
5. Changing Page Orientation Click the Page Layout tab. Click Orientation in the Page Setup
group. Click Landscape.
6. Selecting All Cells in a Spreadsheet Select all the cells on the worksheet by
clicking the Select All cell to the left of Column Header A and above Row
Header 1. Change the Font to a font of your choice. Change the Font Size to
12 pt.

7. Setting the Date Format Click in Cell J1. Click the General list arrow in the Number group.
Click Short Date. Click in Cell J1 again. Click Align Text Right, Bold, and Red Font Color.
Type the date. Press the Enter key.
8. Click on Row Header 2. Click Bold. Click the Font Size list arrow. Click 18 pt. Select Cells
A2 through J2. Click Merge and Center in the Alignment group. Type PIZZA ORDER. Press
the Enter key. Save your work.
9. Select Cells A2 through J12. Click the Borders list arrow in the Font group. Click All Borders.
10. Wrapping Texxt Click on Row Header 3. Click Bold and Center. Click Wrap Text in the
Alignment group.
11. Resizing Column Width Click in Cell A3. Type the field names below in Row 3. Press the
Tab key to move to the next cell. Note: If you need to resize any of the columns, move the
mouse pointer on the line between the two columns on the gray frame and double-click or
press and drag to make the text fit.

12. Resizing Row Height Select Row Headers 4 through 12. Change the row height to 30 pixels
by moving the mouse pointer on a line between two row headers and pressing and dragging
up or down. Save your work.
13. Open your Excel Project Seven Grade Book document. Select the alphabetized list of Last
and First names of the students. Click Copy in the Clipboard group or press Ctrl+C. Click
back in the Pizza Order spreadsheet. Click in Cell A4. Click Paste in the Clipboard group or
press Ctrl+P.
14. Select Row Headers 11 and 12. Click Bold and Align Text Right.
15. Click in Cell B11. Type Total Slices. Press the Tab key. Enter the pizza orders in the
spreadsheet.

16. Setting the Number Format to Currency Select Column Headers G through J. Click the
General list arrow in the Number group. Click Currency. Save your work.
17. Using the Fill Handle to Copy Formatting Click in Cell G4. Type 1.99. Press the Enter key. A
dollar sign will automatically be added. Click in Cell G4 again. Position the mouse pointer on

the Fill Handle. Drag the Fill Handle through Cell G10. This will copy the cost per slice for
the remaining students.
18. Click in F4. Type =SUM(C4:E4). Press the Enter key. Click in Cell F4 again. Drag the Fill
Handle through Cell F10.
19. Click in Cell H4. Type =F4*G4. Press the Enter key. Click in Cell H4 again. Drag the Fill
Handle through Cell H10. Save your work.
20. Click in Cell F12 and type Tax -> (the dash and the greater than sign or click the Insert tab.
Click Symbol. Click the Arrow symbol.). Press the Tab key so that Cell G12 is selected.
21. Setting the Number Format to Percentage Click the General list arrow in the Number group.
Click Percentage.
22. Increasing or Decreasing Decimals Click Increase Decimal or Decrease Decimal so there
are 2 decimal places.
23. Click in Cell G12. Click a Red Font Color. Type 6.25. Press the Enter key. It should display
6.25%. Click Increase Decimal or Decrease Decimal to display 2 decimal places.
24. Click in Cell I4. Type =H4*G$12. Press the Enter key. Click in Cell I4 again. Drag the Fill
Handle through I10. Click in Cell G12. Change the percentage to 8.75. Press the Enter key.
Notice how the tax amounts change.
25. Click in Cell I12. Type Grand Total -> (the dash and the greater than sign). Press the Tab
key. Save your work.
Apply Your Skills:
26. Click in Cell J4. Type a formula that will add Total Cost and Tax. Press the Enter key. Click
in Cell J4 again. Drag the Fill Handle through J10.
27. Click in Cell J12. Click a Blue Font Color. Type a formula to get the Grand Total. Press the
Enter key.
28. Click in Cell C11. Enter a formula to add the number of cheese slices ordered. Click in Cell
C11 again. Drag the Fill handle through Cell E11.
29. Add a thick red border around Cells C11 through E11. Save your work.
30. Select Cells A12 through F12. Click the Merge and Center list arrow in the Alignment group.
Click Merge Cells. Click the Border list arrow. Click More Borders. Click the Fill tab. Click a
Background color. Click the Pattern Style list arrow. Click a pattern. Click OK.
31. Inserting a Column Click on Column Header G. Click the Home tab. Click the Insert list
arrow. Click Insert Sheet Column. Insert a column for Veggie pizza between Cheese and
Sausage. Each student will order one piece of Veggie pizza.
32. Changing Text Orientation Select Cells C3 through J3. Click the Orientation list arrow in the
Alignment group. Click Angle Counterclockwise. Resize the Row Height to accommodate
the pizza types. Save your work.

33. Creating a Pie Chart You will create a pie chart to show the number of slices ordered for
each kind of pizza. Select Cells C3 through F3. Hold down the Control key and select Cells
C11 through F11.
34. Click the Insert tab. Click the Pie list arrow in the Charts group. Click Exploded Pie in 3-D.
35. Formatting Pie Chart Segments Click Format Selection in the Selection group. Click to view
the options for Fill, Border Color, Border Style, Shadow, and 3-D Effect. Select a few
options (i.e. gradient or insert picture) for the pie chart segment. Add formatting effects to
the other segments of the pie chart. Save your work.
36. Formatting Data Labels Double-click the Data Labels and change the Font, Font Size, and
Font Color. Move each number on top of its specific pie segment.
37. Click the Home tab. Change the Font, Font Size, and Font Color for the Chart Title.
38. Applying 3-D Options Click the Chart Tools Layout tab. Click 3-D Rotation in the
Background group. Experiment with 3-D options.
39. Save your work. You will submit this document below.
