L FREE RECYCLING OF BATTERIES, FLUORESCENT LAMPS AND TUBES It's against the law to dispose of batteries and any lamps or tubes that contain mercury in the trash or in the curbside recycling container. The City of Laguna Beach offers free recycling of these items to residents. For more details go to: www.recycleoc.net FREE BULKY ITEM COLLECTION It’s easy to dispose of large hard-to-handle items that don’t fit into your trash cart. Residents with curbside collection are provided two free bulky item pick ups per calendar year. Call Waste Management to arrange your pick up! Electronic Waste - TV’s, monitors, computers and other electronic devices. Universal Waste - Batteries, fluorescent lamps and tubes. Also known as a “resin” code, this symbol is often found on the bottom of plastic containers and tells you what plastic was used to make the item. Glass Metal Plastic Bag Recycling l l l l l l Aluminum cans Tin cans - soup, tuna, vegetable juice Empty aerosol cans (must be empty) Pie tins Paint cans (empty, completely dried out) Hangers l l Food jars - sauce, mayo, pickles (no residue) Beverage glass bottles - wine, beer, liquor, juice Residents with curbside recycling service may now place plastic bags in the recycling cart. Please place plastic bags for recycling inside a plastic bag, not loose in the cart to ensure that all the plastic will be caught in the sorting process. TRASH Items that are not acceptable in the recycling program should be placed in the trash cart with the “blue” lid. l l l l l RECYCLING BOTTLES You can redeem empty California Redemption Value (CRV) beverage containers at any market or liquor store in Laguna Beach. The beverage containers must be clean. The refund value for each beverage container with a capacity of less than 24 fluid ounces is five cents ($0.05), and the refund value for each container with a capacity of 24 fluid ounces or more is ten cents ($0.10).
