We inform Seniors of programs, benefits and available services and how to access them. The Sherwood Park/Strathcona County Chapter of SUN meets monthly. Speakers are invited to our meetings. We also network with other Seniors’ groups and community organizations about health care, housing and long term care, transportation, the cost of medications, the money crunch and other concerns. SUN advocates on members behalf for information and positive action through our local politicians. Be a part of SUN and bring your experience and concerns to the table. Join with others to advocate for change and improvements as well as celebrating successes. Drop-in programs: bridge, cribbage, badminton, bingo, carpet bowling, etc. Registered programs: line dancing, clogging, zumba, art classes, drama club, choir, pickle ball, keep fit, widow/widowers club (second Mon. monthly), and more. Wheelchair accessible. Activity centre open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm, Tuesday to Thursday from 8:30am to 8:30pm, Saturdays from 9am - noon. Fees: $30 annual. Minimum age – 55 years (to vote) but younger people can be associate members. Programs include yoga, badminton, fitness programs, choir, crafts, garden club, quilting, line and round dancing, snooker, chat and travel clubs and more. There is plenty of free parking and the facility is wheelchair accessible. Open Monday and Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 8:30am to 9pm. Evening programs also offered to 18+ but in the event of a wait list for a program, seniors will be given first refusal.
