VOLUNTEER’S GUIDE Thank you for volunteering with us today! Here’s a quick-guide to having a great Flag Day experience with your family. 1. Selling Flags In addition to wearing the Family T-shirt, you will also have balloons, a donation bag (only for volunteers above 15 years old), and flags (stickers). Ready with your brightest smile? You can proactively approach passer-bys with a simple introduction, e.g., “Hi! Would you like to donate to help families?” You will attract interest with the Family balloons, and some may approach you to get one. You can take the opportunity to ask for a donation when you give them one. If someone ignores you or declines to make a donation, it is alright! Keep your smile on, be polite and do not coerce or harass, and you can move on to approach the next person. 2. Where to Go You will be recommended to a flag-selling zone to ensure our volunteers are well spread out. Find an area with high human traffic, i.e., at food places, outside of malls, markets, etc. Feel free to venture out if there is no human traffic within the designated zone. As MRT stations and interchanges are where people usually feel rushed, they may not be the best place to situate yourself. Please do not crowd/obstruct the movement of pedestrians and traffic, especially at street junctions, bus stops and entrances to business premises or residences. We can’t sell flags at these sites: Changi Airport, railway stations, hospitals, inside MRT stations and at their escalators, hotels, places of worship, Woodlands/Tuas Checkpoints, inside shopping malls. 3. Safety At any time, do take care of your own safety as well as the security of the collection bag. Be on guard against possible theft. All donations must go into the collection bag. If your collection bag is full, come ask us for a new one at your reporting centre. Please do not hold donations in your hand or put them into your pockets/bags. If collection bags are lost or stolen, please let us know at your reporting centre. You will be advised on the action to be taken 4. Returning of Flag Day Kit Return to the reporting centre latest by 7pm and collect your special Families for Family memento! Please contact your reporting centre if you will be late.
