Scotchcast™ Plus is a high quality water-activated
3M fibreglass casting tape that creates a strong
and lightweight cast which is also porous, reducing
itching and odour. Scotchcast™ Plus is easily and
smoothly applied, conforming nicely to the required
shape. Water and urine resistant. Length 3.6m. It is
recommended that you wear gloves when applying
so that resin doesn’t transfer to your skin. As the
resin is water activated the temperature doesn’t
matter, but the more water you apply and the
wetter the cast material becomes, then the faster
it will cure. Store carefully as any damage to the
packaging will result in hardening of the material.

Soft Cast is a unique fibreglass water-activated
3M casting material that remains semi-rigid for
resilient support. Can also be used under rigid
casting material as a “foundation” layer. Store
carefully as holes in foil may lead to curing in pack.
Wear gloves when applying to avoid transferring
resin to skin.

The 1.5mm-thick perforated thermoplast splint
sheets drape easily over small contoured and
recessed areas. Ideal for smaller animals including
cats, dogs, birds and exotics. The perforation
allows the body surface to breathe and makes the
splint lighter. Thermoplastic adheres to itself, when
heated, so is ideal for multi-sheet lay-ups. Supplied

CUSTOM SPLINTS
The design of a custom splint is limited only by
your imagination. The wide variation in size and
shape of veterinary patients makes splinting a
challenge. Thermoplastic sheets offer the ideal
solution. Widely used with human patients,
thermoplastic splint material is now adapted to
make custom splints and braces that partially or
totally immobilise any animal’s body part.
Heated in hot water, the sheets become soft and
pliable allowing trimming and moulding to any
body part for a perfect custom fit. Padding and
lining materials can be used as per your regime.
These splints are adaptable and relatively easy to
make.

Casting Tape Rhena Therm

Rhena Therm is a thermoplastic cast bandage
ideal for either casting or manufacture of splints.
It is activated by soaking in a hot water bath of
at least 65°C for 3-7 minutes. The ideal water
temperature is 70°C. After soaking, the water
is squeezed from the bandage, into a towel,
before application, to avert risk of scalding. Rhena
Therm can be moulded very thoroughly during the
activation process. To halt the activation process
a hand moistened with cold water is rubbed over
the bandage. No tension is used when applying
Rhena Therm and it is workable for 2-3 minutes.
Multiple layers of Rhena Therm can be used for
rigidity, using a 50% overlap. Up to 4 layers of
Rhena Therm can be cut effortlessly with bandage
removal scissors. Because it can be reactivated
up to 20 times, waste is considerably reduced
and even short bandage scraps can be used as
stiffening slabs. Rhena Therm is chemically inert so
can be disposed of with normal waste.
