The beautiful mountain town of Buena Vista is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, between Denver, Aspen and Vail, and also near Colorado Springs. At The Lariat, we raft, hike, climb, fish, bike and ski in our spare time but our first passion is mountain-made music. THE SPACE Roaring crowds in rocking amphitheaters can thrill and inspire, yet nothing beats the intimacy of a small, traditional music venue. The Lariat is a local icon. Built in 1885, the brick Main Street location is completely remodeled, taking its theme from the Steam Punk era that was prominent in the Arkansas River Valley. The space is packed during the day with locals and tourists dining on a unique, locally sourced menu and sipping libations from our 100-year-old bar. At night, the 20-by-12-foot elevated stage comes to life! The uproarious blues, jazz, rock and funk music inside the venue makes The Lariat hard to walk by and not check out. Musicians repeatedly tells us we are their favorite venue to play. Bands can expect a warm and hospitable welcome and a lively crowd. Locals will tell you that The Lariat is THE place for live music in the Valley. The Lariat Sound Engineer Robert Bangert has extensive live sound and stage work spanning over 30 years including live and studio engineering, live sound tech, lighting design and stage tech and recording engineer. Live concert production includes work with Kansas, Kenny Loggins, Jefferson Starship, Santana, Tom Jones, Barry Manilow, Blue Oyster Cult, Steppenwolf, Great White and Otis Taylor to name just a few.
