Every Decision. WHAT IS BEST FOR CHILDREN? Every time.
Volume 12, Issue 33
April 3, 2017

The Blues music originated in the Mississippi Delta after the
Civil War. Rooted in the songs sung by slaves working in the
fields and African spirituals, the Blues offered an escape
from oppression and a means of expression for many African Americans.
 Friendship Cemetery in Columbus has been called Where
Flowers Healed a Nation. It was April 25, 1866, and the Civil
War had been over for a year when the ladies of Columbus
decided to decorate both Confederate and Union soldiers' graves with beautiful bouquets
and garlands of flowers. This gesture became known as Decoration Day, the beginning of
what we observe as Memorial Day.
