A MESSAGE FROM MAYOR NENSHI
On behalf of the citizens of Calgary and my City Council colleagues, it is my pleasure to welcome you to
the 65th Annual Alberta Oilmen’s Bonspiel.
For decades, this event has provided a wonderful opportunity for members of the oil and gas industry to
come together, network and share in the camaraderie of curling. With teams from across Alberta, and
as far away as Texas, I have no doubt that this competition will be an exciting one to watch and take part
in.
I commend the organizers and volunteers for their efforts in hosting this event each year, and I hope
that this bonspiel is filled with good sportsmanship and fun!
Sincerely,
Naheed K. Nenshi

Bonspiel Rules
This Bonspiel shall be governed by the “Rules of Curling for General
Play” from current edition of the official “Curling Rule Book” published by the Canadian Curling Association. Specifically, the Four
Rock, Free Guard Zone Rule applies.
Rules Pertaining Specifically to This Bonspiel
1. If a competing rink is not ready to commence play at the
time named for the beginning of the match, one end must be
counted as played for every ten minutes delay, and the opposing
rink, if ready to play, shall score one point for each ten minute
period they have been kept waiting. The team that has been
kept waiting will have last rock on the first end played. At the
end of one half hour the game will be forfeited.
2. All games including the finals will be eight ends. Tied games
will be decided by playing “Skip Rocks”, except for elimination
games (elimination games are all games played on Saturday
and Sunday, all prior games are NOT elimination) which will be
decided by extra end(s). The “Skip Rocks” end shall be played
in the following manner: the team who tied the game will play
first. One rock with normal sweeping will be allowed, but there
is to be no sweeping by the opposition behind the Tee Line. The
skip’s rock finishing in the house and closest to the button will
be declared the winner. If neither rock finishes in the house the
skips will repeat the end until a winner is decided.
3. Teams to consist of any combination of male and female “Oil
Patch” personnel and may if desired consist of one (1) non “Oil
Patch” member (male or female) who must play lead or second,
if desired this individual may call the game, that is skip, and play
lead or second in the delivery rotation. Any team found to have a
designated “Oil Patch” member that is not connected to the oil
industry under the website listed “Entry Eligibility Requirements”
Bonspiel Rules
specified on the “Entry Registration Form” will be disqualified
at any stage in the Bonspiel with forfeiture of the entry fee.
The Bonspiel Committee reserves the right to rule on all
eligibility matters.
4. A full rink of four eligible players must be registered. If a member
through sickness or other unforeseen circumstances is unable
to begin a game, then three members of the team may play. No
rink shall play with less than three eligible players. In the case of
a three player team, the first two players will deliver three stones
each.
5. Substitute Player(s) who have not played for another team in the
Bonspiel may join a rink without registering the change with the
Drawmaster. Substitute Player(s) who join a rink permanently
must register the change with the Drawmaster. Substitute(s)
must not play in any capacity other than lead or second. The
original player(s) may rejoin the team at any time and may
assume his regular position(s). A maximum of two substitutes
is allowed.
6. A team may declare a new rotation of play at the beginning of
any game. Substitute Player(s) must remain at either lead
or second.
7. All team disputes must be resolved by the teams involved.
8. Upon the submission of a Bonspiel entry, including any
subsequent amendments thereof, all players listed on the entry
and in this Program, understand that they are agreeing that all
information tendered or photos obtained as part of any Bonspiel
event, may be used for any internal purposes of this Alberta
Oilmen’s Bonspiel Association.

RELY ON RILEYS
At Rileys we’re much, much more than the local print shop. Every day, we’re partnering with
companies just like yours to provide business solutions that best fit their unique needs.
That might mean designing and producing your interior and exterior signage, or scanning and
managing your document library. It could even mean providing qualified personnel and on-site
services for printing, fulfillment and mailing. No matter the scale of your requirements, your
team doesn’t even have to leave the office to get their projects executed and out the door in
a timely manner.
How do we do it? First, we strive to fully understand your needs. Then we pull our years of
experience together to offer a customized solution set that helps fill in any gaps. This means
you have more bandwidth to focus on your core business.
