Refreshing a Palm Beach Residence
FORESIGHT
The word relationship is defined as the way in which two or more concepts, objects,
or people are connected. In business as well as in life, relationships become the
cornerstone of our day-to-day existence. As we go about each day, everyone we
meet or come in contact with are relationships on some level, whether large or small.
Let me share with you my thoughts on two special bonds. I will begin with family
– the personal side – since this is where it all starts. My father, Charles, passed
away last month at the age of 93. He lived a full life, showed me how to work, and
modeled the tenacity to overcome problems. He told me that I could do whatever
I was committed to and that it was up to my efforts if I were to succeed. My father
showed me the importance of truth and unconditional love, which I returned to him.
And then there are business relationships – fellow employees, clients, specialty
contractors, etc. Gene Parker has worked side-by-side with me for 32 years.
I founded Hedrick Brothers in 1979, and thankfully Gene joined me a few years
later as a Superintendent. He is now our Executive Vice President and leads the
Luxury Residential Division. In the beginning, we knew we could do larger and
more challenging projects, but just needed an opportunity. We worked together to
develop relationships, which ultimately led to opportunities. Hedrick Brothers has
continued to grow bigger, better and stronger, and I am grateful to Gene for his
friendship and unwavering commitment to the company.
The Brand Promise of Hedrick Brothers Construction states: “Our team is dedicated
to being relational, upholding the highest level of integrity, developing quality
construction, and maintaining a strong commitment throughout each project.”
As you can see, it begins with being relational – with owners, architects, design
consultants, specialty contractors, business associates, and our own team. Let’s
all remember to value our relationships, establish trust, and put in the time both
personally and professionally – it’s a win-win.

Your Team for Pre-Construction
“Building on Paper Before the Shovel Hits the Ground”
Hedrick Brothers Construction believes that the most important
decisions regarding the cost and quality of a building are made
during the design and planning stages rather than during
construction. Our Pre-Construction Services Team focuses on a
collaborative approach. Collaboration among the owner, architect,
design consultants, and builder from the initial concept through
completion enables the team to have a clear understanding of
the client’s needs and expectations. This partnership approach
enables a thoroughly planned and professionally-managed
project, influences major decisions, provides solutions for complex
construction issues, optimizes the fit between design and budget,
provides the ability to forecast ahead of schedule, and ensures
the selection of qualified specialty trades. Hedrick Brothers
Construction’s comprehensive pre-construction services include
cost control, constructability reviews, value engineering, life cycle
cost analysis, scheduling, logistics, subcontractor selection, and
material procurement throughout the duration of the project.
Join Boca West Country Club, Palm Beach Atlantic University, and
residential owners to name a few, and take advantage of these
services today.

PROJECT UPDATES
Private Residence, Jupiter Island, FL
Hedrick Brothers Construction has recently completed a new 16,000 square
foot Anglo Caribbean designed intracoastal residence on Jupiter Island, FL.
While excavating the site, the project team discovered more than 60 boulders
that weighed approximately 990 tons. In speaking with the owner, the idea
of a retaining wall, which was not part of the original plan, was determined
as the perfect use for the boulders. The Hedrick Brothers team had a study
conducted to see if the plan was possible, and then went to work. 55 of the
boulders were stacked and stored on site; sheet piling was installed in the
water to help retain and stabilize the foundation for the boulders to be placed
on; and then the boulders were lifted into place by cranes at the water’s edge.
The result is a natural retaining wall on the west edge of the property next to
the intracoastal waterway.
