Kingdom of An Tir Arts and Sciences Competition March 7th and 8th A.S. XLIII, 2009 University of Ithra Barony of Wastekeep Campus UNIVERSITY OF ITHRA The University of Ithra was originally chartered in the Barony of Madrone by the late Liam an Baid, Baron of Madrone; Paul, Rex Occidentalis and Carol, Regina Occidentialis on 16 February, Anno Societatis IX. The University's Charter was revised by William, Rex Occidentalis and Donna, Regina Occidentalis authorizing Ithra as a Royal University of the Throne of the West on 3 January, Anno Societatis X. Upon the accession of An Tir to the status of Kingdom, King Manfred and Queen Morag chartered the University of Ithra as a Royal University with all the traditional autonomy from civil political authority save for the direct and express authority of the crown of An Tir, whose authority shall be exercised only if the University should seriously depart from the goals and spirit of the Society for Creative Anachronism. The Charter for the University of Ithra was reaffirmed by changes in Kingdom Law under King Gunnar and Queen Gabriell in Anno Societatis XXVII. All scholars are enjoined therefore to serve the recreation and study of pre-1650 cultures and that in all things and above all things they ever observe unity, peace and mutual charity. The University was established to provide an environment for the exchange of knowledge and skills pertaining to the historical Middle Ages and the current Middle Ages. The education and any degrees earned from the University of Ithra are not applicable to mundane Universities. Satisfactory completion of a curriculum of the University leads to the award of the degree of Lector Artis or Lector Scientae (Reader in Arts or Reader in Sciences). All participants in a session of the University should make an attempt to dress in Medieval garb, unless otherwise directed. There may be classes in this session where Medieval garb with its veils and dangling sleeves are not appropriate. See the individual class descriptions for recommended attire. Instructors receive Ithra credit for the first time they instruct a class. Master's Degrees are awarded upon the third successful instruction. The instructors receive a waiver of registration fees for sessions at which they teach. All grades are pass/fail as determined by the instructor. Anyone who does not attend is a "No Show". Appeals to a grade must be made in writing to the Proctors. Notification of grade will only be made if you do not pass. No notification means you pass. Individual student records for the Wastekeep Campus can be made available at a session by asking the Chancellor two weeks prior to the session, or by going to the web address http://www.ithra.antir.sca.org/. All fees must accompany your registration form. No substitutions for already registered students will be permitted unless arrangements are made with the Chancellor at least one week before the class.
