2013 WTS San Diego Chapter Scholarship Winners! $1,500 Graduate Scholarship – Latosha Hardage Latosha began her career with Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) in San Diego as a part time bus operator in 1995. Since then her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence lead to her progressive increase in responsibility and her current position of Assistant Manager of Transportation Communication and Technology with MTS. Latosha is currently enrolled in the Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI) Master of Science in Transportation Management program, with a concentration in Bus operations and Emergency/Security Management. Upon graduation, Latosha hopes to use her degree to help MTS remain a strong leader in the transit industry. $1,500 Graduate Scholarship – Crystal Wang Crystal is currently a first year Master of Urban Planning student at Columbia University in New York. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Urban Studies and Planning from the University of California, San Diego in March 2013. During her time in San Diego, Crystal served as a transportation intern with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and as a Compass Card intern at the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG). After graduation, Crystal plans to return to Southern California to begin a career in public sector transportation planning. She hopes to focus her career on improving access to public transit for all sectors of the population, and has a special interest in bus rapid transit (BRT). $500 Graduate Book Award – Cathleen Ma Cathleen Ma is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Construction Engineering & Management at the University of Southern California (USC) and is expecting to graduate at the end of 2013. Cathleen is an intern with T.Y. Lin International where she is gaining valuable experience in the construction industry. She has also interned with Caltrans during her undergraduate studies at UCSD. In addition to her interest in construction, Cathleen is passionate about green engineering and plans to eventually earn her PE license and become a Registered Civil Engineer. $1, 500 Undergraduate Scholarship – Kaylinn Roseman Kaylinn Roseman is currently a senior at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo studying Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Transportation Engineering. Kaylinn has interned with Iteris, an intelligent transportation systems company, for the past two summers where she has worked on traffic signal design and timing. She is active in Cal Poly’s Institute of Transportation Engineers student chapter where she has held the Secretary position and is currently the President. Kaylinn is dedicated to the transportation community and looks forward to working to improve the safety and efficiency of the nation’s transportation infrastructure after she completes a Master’s Degree in Transportation Engineering.
