CALL TO WORSHIP
Sing to the Lord a new song;
Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
The choice is before us: life or death.
Let us choose life, so that we may live.
Let us worship God.
“Though I May Speak”
HYMN #693
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of glory, we confess that we have not sought your face. We adore the high and mighty and ignore your
humble servant. We act with prejudice and partiality and fail to share your love for all. Forgive us, God of
grace. Pour out the power of your Spirit and renew us in our calling: to show the wonder of your love; through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Hear the good news! We’ve come together as the Body of Christ. We are friends and family, forgiven of our sins
through the love and sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Thanks be to God. Amen.

SCRIPTURE READING
Deuteronomy 30:15-20
See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity. If you obey the commandments of
the Lord your God that I am commanding you today, by loving the Lord your God, walking in his ways, and observing his
commandments, decrees, and ordinances, then you shall live and become numerous, and the Lord your God will bless you
in the land that you are entering to possess. But if your heart turns away and you do not hear, but are led astray to bow
down to other gods and serve them, I declare to you today that you shall perish; you shall not live long in the land that
you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess. I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set
before you life and death, blessings and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live, loving
the Lord your God, obeying him, and holding fast to him; for that means life to you and length of days, so that you may
live in the land that the Lord swore to give to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

RESPONDING TO GOD’S GRACE
“Though I May Speak”
HYMN #693
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
Apostles Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified,
dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and
the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of
sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
PASTORAL PRAYER AND LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in
heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.
Amen.

AMAZON MISSION TRIP TO IQUITOS, PERU The FIPC Mission
Trip to Iquitos, Peru, is scheduled for July 7-15, 2017. Deep in the heart of
the Amazon rainforest on the Amazon River, Iquitos is one of the most
primitive and remote areas in the world. While there, you will work with
other volunteers including SCOTA (Special Children of the Amazon)
school for handicapped children, Bible school and English classes, medical
work and light construction projects. Cost is $2500.00 per person. This
includes Airline travel, double-occupancy lodging, and meals. Deposits
and amounts due are: March 1st $1500.00 and April 15th $1000.00. Please
make your checks payable to Medical Mission, Inc. If interested, call Rita
Garrett at 864-2526 or 864-420-0998. An informational meeting will be
held February 12th at 3:00 pm in the FH for anyone interested in going on
this mission trip.
STOP HUNGER NOW MEAL PACKING EVENT Save the date, October 1, 2017, and mark your calendar for FIPC’s
meal packaging event. Help package 10,000 meals in 2 hours. On February 12, the Commitment Committee will be passing
out family quart jars after worship. Between now and October 1, we invite you and your family to use your family quart jar
as a reminder to Stop Hunger Now and its goal of ending world hunger. No gift is too small! All monies donated through
these jars will be collected during worship on October 1 and used to purchase life-saving water filters through SHN that
cost $75 each and provides 250 gallons of clean water for TEN years.
SANCTUARY FLOWERS can be placed by your request in memory of, in honor of or for a special occasion. When
making your request, please remit a check payable to FIPC in the amount of $65.00 to cover the cost of the flowers
purchased and arranged by Tracy Ricard. Please note “flowers” on your check.
ATTENDANCE PADS In order to have a record of your attendance in worship, please be sure you sign the Attendance
Pads provided in each pew. Thank you.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
WORSHIP TRAINING SESSION is today after worship for those children in K5-5th grade who are interested in being
bell ringers, acolytes or ushers. We will kick this off with lunch for our children in the Fellowship hall, followed by a
training session in the Sanctuary. We expect to finish the training at 2:00 pm. Please contact Sommer Johnson by
call/text: 864-633-7127 or email: [email protected] to RSVP or with any questions.
CHILDREN’S CHURCH LEADERS NEEDED If you are interested in volunteering to teach Children's Church during
worship, we have a sign-up through Sign up Genius (http://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080f4fa4af28a13-fipc). We have
new curriculum that incorporates a children's book into each lesson. It is fun and easy to teach, and a wonderful way to
connect scripture to a children's book/story. Please contact Sommer Johnson with any questions at [email protected]
or call/text 864-633-7127.
YOUTH ACTIVITIES
CONFIRMATION CLASSES begin today. Youth attending confirmation classes will meet in the CFC during Sunday
