These lines will mimic the lines you will use to create your wire sculpture -‐Tissue paper can also be used to create a “skin” but internal structure can also be noticed drawing in space Jen Stark Construction Paper relief sculpture-‐ topographical maps Look at the work of Jen Stark and look at topographical maps. Choose a place that is interesting and look at the topographical map of that place. Research colors that are commonly found in the cultures of the place you are interested in. Talk about balance and variety This one is more with paper- could also be related to Richard Serra metal sculptures and do something related to his “word list” Claes Oldenburg inspired food sculptures-‐ Talk about how the artist makes everything larger than life. Materials: Cardboard and other materials to create an internal structure Brown craft or butcher paper. Tape Paper Mache Acrylic Paint Inflatable sculptures Students break into teams and design a creature, remembering that is cannot be too tall and it must have a wide base. This will take a lot of trial and error.
