Program Provider
This St. Louis experience is offered
through Road Scholar, formerly known as
Elderhostel, a not-for-profit organization
founded in 1975 to provide lifelong­
learning opportunities for baby boomers
and beyond. Its mission is to inspire adults

adventures engage expert instructors,
provide extraordinary access, and stimulate
discourse and friendship among people for
whom learning is the journey of a lifetime.

Daily Itinerary
Day 1: Sunday, June 7
Arrival/Orientation and Welcome Dinner
Check in at the hotel begins at 3 p.m. Orientation and Welcome Dinner
National Expansion Memorial. Then board a bus to experience the
Gateway Arch, built as a tribute to Thomas Jefferson and pioneers
for whom St. Louis was the gateway to the West. Stop at the Old
Cathedral, site of the oldest Catholic parish west of the Mississippi,
Day 2: Monday, June 8
Overview of City / Exploration of St. Louis
Neighborhoods / St. Louis Cathedral Basilica
Hear an overview of st. Louis, bringing the past into the present. Then
enjoy a field trip to the historic Old Court House, site of the Dred
Scott trial, and continue on to experience St. Louis neighborhoods.
Enjoy lunch and an exploration of St. Louis Hill, an Italian-American
neighborhood established in the late-19th century and birthplace of
baseball greats Yogi Berra and Joe Garagiola Sr. Later, experience St.
Louis Cathedral Basilica and the world's largest collection of mosaics.

a tree-lined path to the Arch and travel to the top of this 630-foot-high
stainless steel structure for amazing views of the Gateway City, the
Mighty Mississippi and neighboring Illinois. Or choose to keep your
feet on the ground and view "Lewis and Clark: Great Journey West."
See the expedition of Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery
on The Odyssey Theatre's giant four-story screen. While at the Arch,
you can go step by step with Lewis and Clark on their journey at the
interactive Museum of Westward Expansion. Later, experience the
Anheuser Busch Brewery, including the stable housing the majestic
Clydesdale horses. If you are a beer lover, enjoy free samples of

Step back in time at the Campbell House Museum, which opened in
Anheuser-Busch products.
Day 5: Thursday, June 11

St. Louis History Museum / st. Louis Zoo
1943 to preserve the family's collection of original furniture, fixtures,
paintings, objects and thousands of pages of family documents. Robert
Campbell was an entrepreneur and fur trader. Enjoy a picnic lunch at
gorgeous Tower Grove park, a gift to the City of St. Louis from 19th­
century merchant Henry Shaw. After lunch, explore the Missouri
Botanical Garden.
Day 4: Wednesday, June 10
Jefferson National Expansion Memorial I
Gateway Arch / Anheuser Busch Brewery
and Clydesdales
After breakfast, view "Monument to the Dream," a documentary
about the engineering feat erecting this centerpiece of the Jefferson
Explore Forest Park, site of the 1904 World's Fair, and one of the
largest urban parks in the country, surpassing Central Park in New
York City by 500 acres. Experience the St. Louis Art Museum, St. Louis
History Museum, and the world-renowned 5t. Louis Zoo.
Day 6: Friday, June 12
Breakfast / Departure
