Bio and Speaker Information
George R. Deeb, DDS, MD is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate and Undergraduate
Implant Programs at the at the VCU School of Dentistry. Dr. earned his DDS at the University of Colorado
Health Sciences Center, graduating in 1995. Continuing his education at Oregon Health Sciences
University, he earned his MD and completed a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Highly engaged in his profession, Dr. Deeb has published articles and book chapters, as well as lectured
at national and international meetings. In 1999, the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgeons honored Dr. Deeb with a Recognition of Outstanding Contribution to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical Continuing
Education.
Prior to coming to VCU he was a partner in a group practice in Tuscson, Arizona. Dr. Deeb enjoys spending time with his
wife and two children. He is an avid mountaineer and enjoys glass casting and fusing in his spare time.
Michael L. Huband, DDS is an Associate Professor in Prosthodontics at the VCU School of Dentistry. Dr.
Huband received his doctorate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry and
went on to earn a specialty certificate in Prosthodontics at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences
Center in New Orleans. This was followed by completion of a fellowship in Maxillofacial Prosthetics and
Dental Oncology at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas.
Dr. Huband has held multiple appointments which include Charity Hospital, Lutheran Medical Center,
Columbia University, and VCU School of Dentistry.
Janina Golob Deeb, DDS, MS is an Assistant Professor at the VCU School of Dentistry. Dr. Golob Deeb
received her dental degree from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia in 1996. Following graduation she
completed a year of internship in general dentistry at University of Ljubljana. She continued her
education at Oregon Health Sciences University where she received a certificate in periodontology in
2000 and a Masters degree in Oral and Molecular Biology in 2001. Before moving to Richmond she split
her work between private practice and group practice in Tucson, Arizona for thirteen years.
In June of 2013 she and her husband accepted faculty position and moved to Richmond. Dr. Golob Deeb started working
at VCU in 2013 as a part time faculty and switched to a full time position in May of 2014. She teaches in didactic courses
and and works as clinical faculty in AEGD, GP clinics and periodontal clinics. Dr. Golob Deeb is a board certified
periodontist and holds licenses in Virginia, Arizona, Oregon and her native Slovenia. She continues to practice part-time
in the Faculty intramural practice at the Virginia Commonwealth University.
In her free time, Dr. Golob Deeb enjoys traveling and learning about different cultures and languages. She plays piano
and enjoys music. She enjoys hiking and winter sports such as skiing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Above
anything she likes spending time with her family.
