REENACTORS FOR THE BATTLE OF THE OLD WOMAN’S GUN & 1800s LIVING HISTORY ENCAMPMENT OCTOBER 11th AND 12th—10am TO 4pm (both days) Come out and have some fun! On Saturday evening there will be a Reenactor Get Together with music and potluck after the event closes. Enjoy comradery and good food! We are looking for individuals and groups to be a part of our Living History Encampment inclusive of the 19th century, and also for “soldiers” to participate in the reenactment of the 1846 Battle of the Old Woman’s Gun—a battle actually fought in the Mexican-American War on this property. We want to increase our attendance at this fun and educational event, as well as have the public experience the many aspects of the bustling life during the 1800s ranging from the frontier days of early California to the refined culture and society of city life to the military who fought in the battle. Reasons to participate: Free lunch both days Beautiful and safe park atmosphere Friday set-up and camping and Monday teardown Restrooms with hot and cold water Reenacting history on the actual battle field Educating the public and our youth We want to expand both our civilian and military participation from the 19th century. You and your ideas of living history representation (such as domestic crafts, livelihood and labor, leisure, arts etc.) are most welcome. dominguezrancho.org or email [email protected] 18127 S.
