New Mexico is an amazing place for outdoor family fun, and thanks
to the New Mexico Tourism Department at newmexico.org, we’ve put
together a list of places to visit.
In the Snow
The perfect snow conditions in New Mexico allow for fantastic skiing,
snowboarding, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling amid fresh powder.
Some of the best places to enjoy the winter season include the Valles
Grande National Preserve and the Valle Vidal. Do a quick online search
for the Enchanted Forest Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe Area near
t
forget about Taos Ski Valley, Ski Santa Fe, Sandia Peak, Sipapu,
Pajarito, and Angel Fire for all sorts of winter fun.
Hiking and Hot Springs
There are quite a few hot springs around the area, including Montezuma
Hot Springs outside Las Vegas, Spence Hot Springs in Jemez Springs,

together and stay safe.

Take the whole family out to learn about our local history and culture

Bizarre Facts
Baxter’s Big Kids
Winter is Wonderful
You know that it’s not exactly good to binge watch an entire
season of any television program, right? Instead of beating yet
another video game or finishing 20 episodes of anything, bundle up
and do something outside this winter.
Huge Snowball Fight
Gather up your friends (all of them) and start a huge snowball
fight. Yes, this one requires snow, but if you can swing it, it will be
something you talk about for years. You might even get a few good
videos to post online. Just be careful not to bring any innocent
bystanders into your snowball fight.
Beat the Snow Angel World Record
Check out Baxter’s Bizarre Facts for the current world record for
number of people creating snow angels in one location. Think you
can beat that? Send a Tweet or two, gather up your friends and
their friends, and put New Mexico into the record books.
Try Snowshoeing
Skiing and snowboarding at Taos are really fun, right? But it’s also
very expensive. Go snowshoeing instead. This easy and fun sport
takes you out into the winter wonderland. You’ll enjoy the scenery,
time with friends, and exercise. Check out Enchanted Forest Cross
Country Ski and Snowshoe Area for more about this fun, teenfriendly sport. Another great spot to try is the Norski Track just
south of Ski Santa Fe.
Snow Angels. There is a record for
everything, including the largest group
of people simultaneously making snow
angels. The record was set in February
2007, when 8,962 people made snow
angels in Bismarck, North Dakota.
