Why are equations useful any way? Equations are useful because they save your time! Graphs and tables are harder and very time consuming... but with an equation, they are quicker Variables are SUPER! Tables Graphs and Equations are all very different. Tables are useful in that they give you the exact number of the data, but do not show it to you visually. Graphs explain the data in a visual way, but the data provided in it may not be exact like in a table or equation. Equations are quick and easy to write but sometimes complicated to solve. The decisions you need to make when writing an equation to see the relationship between the variables are first you need to identify the variables and fill them in with the numbers that represent the variable. You also need to figure out whether or not the variables need to be multiplied, divided, subtracted, or added to find their relation. Jim and his friends are trying to figure out whether they should switch to Geico or stay with their car insurance as it is. Geico offers a X amount or more discount on car insurance while other car in surance companies only give you Y amount. Geico's discount (X) equals 15% and the other car insurance (Y) equals 10%. Which car company should Jim and his friends choose? GEICO! Geico's company offered a better percentage discount than the other company. The variables in this problem would equal the percentage of discount they The equation you could use could be: D=15%-10% to get the difference of 5%
