Allow Us to Introduce Ourselves
The 2017 Camp Marin Sierra Management Team
Tim Wells— Camp Director
AJ Quilty—Program Director
This is my eleventh year as camp director, and I
have worked for the BSA and Marin Council since
November 2005. From 1993–2005, I was heavily
involved as a volunteer, not only in Cubs, Boy
Scouts, and Venturing with my son and daughter,
but also at the council level with Cub Scout and
Boy Scout camping, marketing, training, and as an
aquatics director. On the regional level, I have been a trainer at fifteen or so Cub
Scout and Boy Scout National Camping Schools. After sending my own children
to work at camp for many years, being able to be at Camp Marin Sierra myself is
a dream come true. Working with the outstanding staff and troops that attend
each year has been a wonderful privilege. My goal for the summer is to ensure
troops have all the resources they need to successfully run their troop program
for the week they are in camp. My favorite snack is Triscuits, salami, and cheese.
This will be my eighth summer working at
Camp Marin Sierra. I have been the director of
Trail to First Class and the Trading Post, have
worked in the kitchen for two years, been
the Cooking merit badge counselor, and an
assistant commissioner. This will be my first year
as program director and my first year on the
management team. I have been an Eagle Scout since July of 2006, and I love
to pass on knowledge, and watch Scouts experience the outdoors. My goal this
year is to make a fun, safe, and memorable experience for all Scouts, leaders,
and staff. Camp Marin Sierra 2017 here we go! I do love me some Doritos.
Andrew Chappell— Commissioner
This will be my sixth year at camp. Previously,
I worked at Trail to First Class for two years
then Trail to Eagle for 3 years—twice as director.
This year, I will be the awesome commissioner
to assist you this summer. I am very excited
to work with you all. At home, I am a college
student at Santa Rosa Junior College working
toward an administration of justice degree. In my free time, I play rugby and
do almost anything that has to do with the outdoors. For me, it will be a very
different summer and I’m eager to see what’s to come of it!
Jaymee Liles—Food Services Director
This is my second summer working at Camp
Marin Sierra. I’ve been working in food services
for about 5 years now. Before coming to the
Marin Council Boy Scouts, I worked for the
Girl Scouts of Northern California. It was after
working in the kitchen here at Marin Sierra that it
became clear to me that cooking was something
I wanted to pursue on a professional level. This year, I am proudly returning as
the food service director. I am excited to really challenge myself careerwise,
but even more importantly, I am looking forward creating the lifelong
memories and friendships that come along with camp. My goal is the make
the food as delicious and unforgettable as possible. As a cook, my favorite
“snack” is coffee, and I also have a weak spot for sour gummy worms.
Kevin Marer—Business Manager
This will be my fifth summer working at Camp
Marin Sierra. I have worked in Handicraft,
Scoutcraft, as well as two years as the
Shotgun Assistant. This will be my first year
as the business manager and first year on the
management team, so I am very excited to be
back and helping to run another great camp
season! I achieved my Eagle as a member of Troop 1051 in Roseville, CA, and
am a current member of Crew 335. I am currently studying architecture with
a minor in City and Regional Planning at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. There, I
am also a resident advisor and working with one of my professors on a couple
of local architecture projects. I am very excited about my summer as business
manager and look forward to working with all of you! My favorite snack would
probably be trail mix or something like apples and peanut butter.
Charles Odell—Ranger
This will be my second summer at Marin Sierra
after spending the beginning of the year getting
familiar with the area. I have been fortunate to
be able to spend time at this very special place
and have benefited from Andy Sawdon’s 25
years of experience. My hope is to continue the
same high quality of stewardship and keep the
camp safe, fun, and beautiful. I have a BA in Industrial Design and an MA in
Adult Education, both from San Francisco State University. I have spent many
years facilitating operations in many industries and look forward to utilizing
my educational and professional experience to help all visitors to Marin Sierra
enjoy our camp as much as Scouts and Scouters have for over 65 years.
Cashews are a great snack.
