Consumer price index of June 2014

Inflation has decreased from 0.36% to 0.27%.
The consumer price index has increased by 0.08 points or 0.08% this month.
Inflation is at its lowest level since December 2009, when it amounted to 0.26%.
Inflation for food has been negative for the second consecutive month and amounts to -0.78% this month.
Inflation without energy amounts to 1.09% and has reached its lowest level since April 2010, when it amounted
to 0.96%.
The index in June has risen especially due to price increases for new cars, motor fuels and hotel rooms.
However, especially airplane tickets, cut flowers and vegetables have had a decreasing effect on the index.
The consumer price index amounts to 100.38 points in June 2014. The index has increased by 0.08 points this
month. Inflation has decreased from 0.36% to 0.27%. The health index has risen by 0.05 points in June and now
amounts to 100.34 points. Inflation based on the health index has gone down from 0.26% to 0.14%. The index
increase this month can mainly be attributed to price increases for new cars, motor fuels and hotel rooms. These
increases are partially counterbalanced by price decreases for airplane tickets, cut flowers and vegetables.
The consumer price index has risen by 0.08 points or 0.08% in June 2014 and now amounts to 100.38 points,
compared to 100.30 points in May (2013=100).

The health index has gone up by 0.05 points to 100.34 points in June, compared to 100.29 points in May. The
arithmetic mean of the last four months is 100.47 points in June, compared to 100.57 points in May. The central
index for public services and social benefits, set at 101.02 points, has not been exceeded this month. The last time
the central index was exceeded was in November 2012.
Products with the largest increasing effect compared to last month are new cars, motor fuels and hotel rooms.
Products with the largest decreasing effect are airplane tickets, cut flowers and vegetables. The most important

Prices for new cars have gone up by 0.4% this month. Motor fuels have seen a price increase of 0.8%. Hotel rooms
have become 2.4% more expensive compared to last month.
Prices for airplane tickets have gone down by 6.9% this month. Prices for cut flowers have decreased by 4.8%.
Vegetables have become on average 1.3% less expensive this month. Prices for tomatoes , asparagus and
cucumbers have gone down considerably. However, green beans, sweet peppers and Belgian endive have become
more expensive.
Inflation now amounts to 0.27%, compared to 0.36% last month and 0.62% in April. Inflation is at its lowest level
since December 2009, when it amounted to 0.26%. Inflation based on the health index continues its downward
trend and amounts to 0.14% compared to 0.26% last month and 0.67% in April. Inflation for energy products
remains negative but has gone up to -5.67%, compared to -5.92% last month and -7.33% in April. Inflation without
energy has gone down to 1.09% in June compared to 1.23% last month and 1.75% in April. It has reached its lowest
level since April 2010, when it amounted to 0.96%. Inflation for food has been negative for the second consecutive
month and amounts to -0.78% this month, compared to -0.55% last month and 1.02% in April. This negative
inflation is mostly due to the observed negative inflation for vegetables (-15.5%), flours and other cereals (-10.1%)
and fruits (-7.1%)
