Ask US!
By Jake
Dear Ask Us,
Some of my classmates have been
keeping secrets from me. When I
ask them what they’re talking
about, they say, “Don’t need to
know.” I hear them secretly saying
my friend’s name. I don’t want to
alarm my friend so she doesn't get
stressed out. What should I do?

Dear Ice cream lover 1831,
You should tell your teacher or a
trusted adult. Tell your classmates
you were only telling the teacher
because you wanted to help your
friend and not to be a tattle tale.

What Is a Fidget Spinner?
by Ryan M. & JonAnthony
What’s a fidget spinner?” A lot of people have probably heard this
question recently. Fidget spinners are little toys, best described as
looking like a mini propellor. Basically, you just spin one of the
“blades,” and then it results in the fidget spinner rotating really fast.
Most people have fidget spinners just due to the satisfaction of how
fast it spins, and also for doing tricks with it. Most of the tricks are
basically getting it to spin, and then placing it
somewhere on the body, such as the finger, back
of hand, or forehead.
Kids say the spinners are fun and helpful.
Zachary said, “It helps me concentrate. I even
bought one for a friend!”
Some teachers are getting tired of the spinners already. Most
teachers agree they are toys and belong at home. Will this fad last?
Only time will tell.
April for Autism Awareness

Welcome NEIGHbors!
Bethlehem Mounted Police and horses,
Asa, George, Grey and Pharoah
by Julia & Shaun
Spring Garden would like to welcome the Bethlehem Mounted Police to
the neighborhood! All grades are raising money for the Mounted
Police! They are raising money for four horses George, Pharaoh, Asa,
and Grey, and also helping them to build their new stables with the
donations.
Each team has a class from each grade level. The team that raises the
most money will get a visit from “their horse.” Make sure you get your
donations in! So far Team Pharaoh is in the lead with about $300. In
total Spring Garden has raised over $800! Keep it up Spring Garden!

The School for Good and Evil
by Soman Chainani
Rules by Cynthia Lord
Since April is National Autism
month, why not add a book based
on it? This one is about a girl
named Catherine who finally
makes a friend. The only problem
is her brother, David. He has
autism, and Catherine is quite
embarrassed of this, so she tries to
avoid him. She also meets a boy
named Jason, who’s in a wheelchair and cannot speak without a
communication book. She then
thinks, what is normal? As always
to find out what happens, why not
read the book?

On April 20, fifth grade went to the Coca Cola
stadium to see the Iron Pigs play baseball. They had so
much fun watching the game, and some even caught
foul balls. The Iron Pigs played against the Columbus
Clippers and won! The Pigs hit 2 homeruns total! The
Iron Pigs’ mascots are two pigs, FeFe and Ferrous.
They had a dance competition and they tied. (We
thought FeFe danced better than Ferrous!)
For lunch, students were served a hot dog or soft
pretzel and chips. And of course they gave us water.
Later, they had a choice of different drinks or food such
as Dipping Dots or Aw ‘Shucks corn. After lunch,
students had the freedom to walk around
and buy ice cream, funnel cakes, snacks, and cool
things from the gift shop! Many students bought a
gold baseball or a miniature baseball bat. At the end of
the day, the classes had lots of fun at the game!
Fearful 2nd Graders!
Enjoy this novel which will
make you rethink who is good or
evil. Two friends, Sophie and
Agatha, supposedly get mixed
into two different schools. Sophie
in Evil, and Agatha in Good. They
both try to get out, and Sophie
wants to stay in Good. To know
more, read the book!

In second grade, students went on a field trip to the
Da Vinci Science Center. They had an exhibit called the
“Science of Fear.” They learned how the brain and body
respond to danger. One activity they did in the “Science
of Fear,”was watch a scary movie. Kids picked what happens in the movie,
but they didn't know when it would happen. One moment, it’s all calm,
the next you hear signs that someone is there. But, you can’t see
anything. It was scary!
Also there were cages and out came - cockroaches! Laney experienced
a feel of cockroach(pretend) poop by accident! The kids also had a fear of
being shocked. You put your hand in a metal tube, pressed a red button,
and got shocked! Everyone who did it, screamed! Except for Lily.
For the gunshot part, you looked into a camera, where you could see
yourself on the TV, and then you waited and heard a gun noise and you
were really scared!
In the fear section, there’s also a room that you can learn about
science. Such as a cool experiment called elephant toothpaste. Also, two
second graders got to mix cornstarch and iodine.
Thanks to Lily and Laney, our guest
writers, we heard about great exhibits to
try out at the Da Vinci Science Center.
Second grade had a lot of fun there. If
you go, just watch out for the cockroach
droppings!
