AMENDMENTS OF THE NAVIGATION (LOADING AND UNLOADING—SAFETY MEASURES) REGULATIONSt 1. Regulation 72 of the Navigation (Loading and Unloading—Safety Measures) Regulations is repealed and the following regulation inserted in its stead:of "72.—Cl.) Where the loading on to a ship of a package or article of Marking weight on cargo, the gross weight of which is one metric ton or more, is commenced heavy articles. or carried on at a port in Australia, the owner, master and agent of the ship and the shipper of the package or article are each guilty of an offence against this regulation unless a statement of the gross weight of the package or article is prominently marked upon it, or upon a label securely attached to it, in legible and durable characters of not Iess than one inch in height. " (2.) Where the loading on to a ship of a machine, the gross weight of Which is one metric ton or more, that is to be used below deck in connexion with the landing or unloading of a ship is commenced or carried on at a port in Australia, the owner, master and agent of the ship are each guilty of an offence against this regulation unless a statement of the gross weight of the machine is prominently marked upon it, or upon a label securely attached to it, in legible and durable characters of not less than one inch in height. " (3.) Where the unloading from a ship of a package or article of cargo, the gross weight of which is one metric ton or more, is commenced or carried on at a port in Australia, the owner, master and agent of the ship are each guilty of an offence against this regulation unless— (a) a statement of the gross weight of the package or article is prominently marked upon it, or upon a label securely attached to it, in legible and durable characters of not less than one inch in height; or • Notified i" the Commonwelath Gazette on t Statutory Rules 1961, No. 126. 12830/66—PRICE 8c 1967. 9/1.9.1967 Navigation (Loading and Unloading—Safety Measures) Regulations (b) the master of the ship has prior to the commencement of the unloading given, or caused to be given, oral advice as to the approximate gross weight of the package or article to the persons engaged in the unloading of the ship. " (4.) Where the unloading from a ship of a machine, the gross weight of which is one metric ton or more, that has been used below deck in connexion with the loading or unloading of a ship is commenced or carried on at a port in Australia, the owner, master and agent of the ship are each guilty of an offence against this regulation unless a statement of the gross weight of the machine is prominently marked upon it, or upon a label securely attached to it, in legible and durable characters of not less than one inch in height. " (5.) A person who is guilty of an offence against this regulation is liable, upon conviction, to a fine not exceeding Two hundred dollars.". 2. The Navigation (Loading and Unloading—Safety Measures) Regulations are amended as set out in the Schedule to these Regulations.
