MINIMUM ADVERTISING REQUIREMENTS
To reach a diverse market and obtain diverse applicant pools, in accordance with our affirmative action plan, HRAI in collaboration with HR have
determined the following minimum advertisement requirements. This list was updated November 3, 2014
FACULTY
4 WEEKS
One national publication
(I.e. Chronicle of Higher Education, HigherEdJobs.com, InsideHigherEd.com, etc.)
POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWS
4 WEEKS
One publication or electronic posting/listserve within the discipline
TEMPORARY FACULTY - LECTURERS
2 WEEKS
Two local papers for weekend run(s) - alternating weekends is preferred
(Ex. Lewiston Tribune and Moscow-Pullman Daily News for Moscow area)
STAFF POSTINGS BY GRADE
4 WEEKS
Grade 8+:
National search: One national publication.
(I.e. Chronicle of Higher Education, HigherEdJobs.com, InsideHigherEd.com, etc.)
2 WEEKS
Grades 2-7:
Two local papers for weekend run(s) - alternating weekends is preferred
(Ex. Lewiston Tribune and Moscow-Pullman Daily News for Moscow area)
Regional: Subject to advertise regionally for grades 6 & 7 if determined appropriate by HRAI.
Examples of regional advertisement include NWjobs.com (Seattle),
Oregonlive.com (Portland), Idaho Statesman (Boise), Missoulian, etc.
STUDENT/TEMPORARY
3 DAYS
Advertising is optional – but recommended
Extension Offices are strongly recommended to use other means of advertising (i.e. Flyers,
Bulletin Boards, Newsletters, etc.)
INTERNAL
(posted 2
weekends)
Open UI Only–Post at least 5 business days and two weekends During the regular academic
year post in the Daily Register daily for one week.
Note: During the summer with Monday only Daily Registers, advertise two times (two weeks)
with the posting to close two days after the second run.
Unit Only – Email entire unit about the job with description attached, include a closing/
review date for submission of materials for consideration.
Don’t forget to add additional paid and unpaid venues to broaden your applicant pool. Reports show that Indeed.com
gets a lot of viewers.
