CREW
Captain Robert Lloyd
Chef Courtney Elkerbout
Robert was introduced to sailing from the age of 5. Beginning as so many do,
on the optimists, before progressing to pico and lasers at Hawley Lake Training
centre. Sailing continued as a hobby at school which involved inter school
regattas on occasion.
Courtney is from the small rural town of Marton, New Zealand.
Growing up on the water back home Courtney combined her love
of this and her inner adventurer and took to Europe in search of
work on yachts early 2012. 5 years down the line she has worked in
the interiors of both sail and motor yachts of various sizes. Beginning
her yacht career as a stewardess, Courtney then found it an obvious
choice to transition into the galley full time after attending The
Grange Cookery School in Somerset, England. Being brought up in
a family owned bar and restaurant she has always grown up around
the heat and hype of a busy kitchen.
This hobby turned professional in 2007 when Robert completed two
successful flotilla seasons in the Greek Ionian. Liking the idea of a hobby being
worked as a means of employment, He turned his attention to bigger yachts
whilst travelling NZ.
Robert began his yachting career on an Oyster 82’ as a mate and quickly learnt
what it would take in this line of work. Following this he spent four exciting
and adventurous years on board a 175’ modern classic, where he cruised
the Pacific, Chilean fjords, Southern Ocean, Mediterranean, Caribbean and
North America. The opportunity arose to complete his Chief Mates ticket and
assume the role of 1st Officer, and more recently he acquired his Master 500.
Robert and Courtney have been working together for over three years and
look forward to using their combined experience into providing a wonderful
time for guests on board Penelope.
PENELOPE
She too, like Robert, has been fortunate enough to visit some
amazing destinations off the beaten track. Courtney loves immersing
herself into new environments and cultures and especially thrives
on sampling new flavours and cuisines to incorporate these in her
dishes. Outside the galley Courtney is a keen diver, she enjoys a
good hit on the tennis court and loves to entertain friends and family
with delicious home cooked food.
CREW
Deckhand/Stewardess:
Scarlett is the deckhand/stewardess aboard Penelope and will be available
for your every need. From a young age Scarlett has been surrounded by the
ocean. She grew up on an Ex-lifeboat cruising around the Caribbean and
has always had a passion for sailing and recently obtained her Yacht Master
Offshore. Scarlett has been working on charter yachts for the passed year in
the Mediterranean and the Caribbean including Antigua, St Marten, St Barts
and the BVI’s.
As well as yachting, Scarlett loves filming and photography. She loves to explore
new places and meet new people. Scarlett is an avid diver and loves to be in
the sea. Scarlett is a young and charismatic crew member aboard Penelope
of Luxury Living and is excited about the future adventures. She will put every
effort into make your experience on Penelope a fun and relaxing time.
Engineer:
Cameron has chosen to be a yacht engineer to enjoy his two passions for the
ocean and mechanics. At a young age he was introduced to high performance
V8 motors and motor-cycles. Prior to his career on yachts Cameron worked in
telecommunications and conservation for 10 years.
Being the engineer aboard Penelope allows him to travel and care for
a beautiful yacht. He loves to teach and eager to take on new challenges.
Adventure comes from deep within him. What better way to do this, other
than by crossing the oceans of the world and doing what he loves at the same
time.
