Standardized Dress Policy Secondary Grades 7-12 All clothes must fit appropriately and be worn with appropriate undergarments as deemed fit by the campus administration. Campus administration will have complete and final judgment on all matters concerning interpretation of the student dress code. Shirts, Blouses, Turtlenecks, Sweatshirts, Sweaters, Vests Styles: • Collared knit button polo style shirts or dress style buttoned shirts/blouses/turtlenecks (long and short sleeved). • Must be appropriately sized in the shoulders, sleeves, and length. • Appropriate standardized dress must be worn under sweatshirts and sweaters Colors: • Solid white, maroon, navy blue, black, or gray. Not Permitted: • Brads, studs, zippers, or other adornments. • Large logos, stripes, checks, lettering, wording, or designs unless it is an approved Ennis ISD school logo. • Denim of any color. • Over or undergarments of any color other than approved standard dress color that can be seen and worn all day. • Visible tank tops under dress shirts. Slacks, Pants, Shorts, and Belts Styles: • Pleated or flat front docker-style slacks or pants. • Knee length walking shorts. • Capri pants for female students. • Belts, scarves or sashes must be of the approved colors. Colors: • Khaki , navy blue, brown, gray or black Not Permitted: • Carpenter, overalls, painter, hip-hugger, sweat pants, low-rise, sagging, and/or oversized style clothing. • Baggy legged slacks or bell-bottom pants wider that shoes. • Brads, studs, or other adornments. • Denim of any color. Shirt Colors Maroon Gray Navy Blue Skirts, Jumpers, Dresses for female students Styles: • Traditional styles to the knee or longer • Kick-pleats or slits must be hemmed at or below the bend of the knee. Colors: • Solid khaki, black, navy blue, gray, or brown. Not Permitted: • Denim of any color. Footwear Styles: • Athletic shoes, loafers, dress shoes, or other shoes that have both closed toe and heel. • Dress sandals appropriately secured to the foot in both front and back. • Pants are to be worn on the outside of boots • Shoes must match each other Not Permitted: • Para-military type boots. • Flip-flops. • House shoes. Socks, Hose, Tights • Hose/tights must be of a solid, single color. • Socks must match each other. Not Permitted: • Socks that do not match • Leggings without approved bottoms over them Outerwear • Jackets/coats/sweaters are allowed in accordance with appropriate weather conditions. • Jackets/coats must have a closing mechanism (full length zipper, buttons or snaps). • Appropriate standardized dress must be worn under any outerwear • If the jacket or over garment is to be worn in the building, it may include a combination of the school approved solid colors: white, khaki, maroon, navy blue, black, gray, or brown. August 24, 2015 This brochure is designed to assist parents in shopping for school clothes that meet the Ennis ISD Student Standardized Dress Policy as adopted by the Ennis ISD School Board on April 11, 2006 and amended July 8, 2014. The color chart contained in this brochure accurately represents the approved uniform colors. An article of clothing does not have to be from this list to be approved, but must be the equivalent in color and style. Individual building principals will be the final authority as to compliance of dress policy. Consequences for insubordination will be considered serious. Administrative time is very valuable and is best spent working with staff on outstanding curriculum and instructional delivery rather than regularly correcting students about dress code issues.
