Mary Louise "Weezie" (Dodds) Opalka, 88,
formerly of Ford City, died Monday, March 30,
2009, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot. She
was born Dec. 11, 1920, in McGrann, a
daughter of the late William and Margaret
McGregor Dodds. She was a homemaker and a
cafeteria worker at Lenape Elementary. She
was a member of the Ford Memorial United
Methodist Church, Ford City. She was a
volunteer at the Ford City Public Library and
the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital Snack
Bar. She loved reading, walking her dog and
had a passionate love for animals. She is
survived by her children, James (Paula)
Opalka, of Butler, Pam Reany, of Connellsville,
and Daniel "Strap" Opalka, of Ford City; and
three grandchildren, Melissa and Rachel
Opalka, and Dan Reany. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, Leo Opalka, on April 22, 1973; four
brothers, William, John, George and James
Dodds; and a son-in-law, Burton Reany.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. Wednesday in the WELCH FUNERAL
HOME, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City. Funeral
services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at
Ford Memorial United Methodist Church, Ford
City, with the Rev. Craig Peterson officiating.
Interment will follow in Lawn Haven Burial
