In the name of God, Amen. The (Latin – in the year 1572) I, William Bampton, husbandman, of
the parish of Aylesbury being sick in body but thanks be unto God ? mynde and in perfect
memory doth ordain and make this my last will and testament ? of my goods, lands and chattel
as doth hereafter in suether. First, I bequeath my (soul) that ? if pleaseth the Lord, it shall
depart from my body, that he will take it unto his ? ? trust in him that by the merets of his
blessed deythe and passion that it shall rest with him in the life everlasting. My body I will to be
buried within the church of Aylesbury. Item I give unto my youngest son Jeffrey Bampton,
continueth after my death the ? of land in Walton field. Item I will to Isabelle Bampton, my
wife, my house in Walton that John Prat dwelleth in and all that belongeth to the same for the
remainder of her life ? and after her life ends I will the same house and yet do ? belongeth to
my youngest son Jeffrey Bampton. Item, I will also to Isabelle my wife, being widow, my land
lying in Stok fields for the remainder of her life and after her life ends I will give same the lands
unto my son Jeffrey Bampton. Item, I will further to Isabelle my wife, to have for the remainder
of her life, being widow, my lands being in Maudlyns and after her life ends I will and give this
same land, and woods being in Maudlyns to my two sons that is to say John Bampton my eldest
son, and Jeffrey Bampton my youngest son in even portion to be divided between them both.
Item I will also unto Isabelle my wife, to have for the remainder of her life, being widow, my
house in Aylesbury and after her life ends I will and give the same house in Aylesbury unto my
youngest daughter Alys Bampton. Item, I will and give further to my daughter Alys Bampton –
ten pounds in lawful money to be delivered to her at the age of 21 years. Item, I will to my
