Manager – Business Continuity – Centennial, CO
Description
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
This position manages the creation, implementation and deployment along with daily functions of business
continuity initiatives, plans and procedures for DaVita. This includes providing consultation and management
for contingency planning, disaster/business recovery and risk management for the enterprise. This leader is
responsible for multiple phases of business continuity, including providing status updates, identifying issues
and solutions to senior management and leading enterprise-wide continuity projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not
intended to be all inclusive.

















Management responsibility for business contingency planning efforts with a major focus on
establishing business unit contingency plans for critical areas, functions and applications
Understanding continuity and preparedness needs, as well as the necessity for establishing
business continuity management policy and objectives for multiple site locations
Manager will provide leadership in assessing, coordinating, developing and communicating
recovery environment requirements and contingency plans to protect DaVita in case of unforeseen
disruptions
Provide project leadership between business operations, information technology (IT) and other
business units specific to business continuity initiatives
Advise leadership on project planning, tracking and implementation of key business continuity
initiatives, coordinating both operational and system related aspects
Interact with the critical business units and support groups for the purpose of planning, directing,
controlling and maintaining the contingency planning effort
Provide consistent, visible, timely, and effective communication to leadership team on team goals
and objectives and progress toward those goals
Evaluate processes and procedures; suggest and implement methods to minimize labor costs and
to improve operations, efficiency, and service to internal and external customers
Oversee patient information and records to ensure that all documentation is created and
maintained in accordance with HIPAA regulations and to ensure the accurate service is provided
Assist in the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all
business continuity functions
Participate in requirements gathering and implementation of new IT applications specific to
continuity initiatives
Participate in all daily, weekly, and periodic work/management meetings with peers and senior
operations leadership
Review performance metrics with senior operations and DaVita leadership on an as-needed basis
Manage departmental labor budget and miscellaneous expenses
Maintain current knowledge of business continuity issues and trends through education, seminars,
and research
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Travel required: up to 25%, varying by month based on business needs

Provide leadership to direct reports
Help direct reports overcome any organizational obstacles encountered
Manage all teammate employment activity such as hiring, promoting, job performance, evaluations,
and disciplinary actions with appropriate approvals as required












Address teammate relations issues appropriately and escalate as necessary
Know, understand, implement, follow, and communicate to teammates all DaVita employment
policies and procedures, awards, and other opportunities within company; develop and foster a
positive, fulfilling work environment; enable teammates to excel in their assigned roles
Ensure all DaVita employment processes are completed timely and in compliance with DaVita
policy and any applicable laws
Facilitate teammate development (PDRs, coaching, mentoring, DaVita training, outside training);
collaborate with direct reports to create professional development goals
Maintain familiarity with and communicate to teammates DaVita programs impacting teammates
(including but not limited to: Triple Crown, We Are Here, Tuition Reimbursement, Foundations, etc.)
Provide work direction for department teammates
Determine staffing plans that promote the most effective use of all teammates; ensure coverage
during teammate absences
Know and understand basic wage and hour laws, federal, state and local laws and regulations,
Medicare, and legislation affecting employment
Review and approve time cards of hourly direct reports for bi-weekly payroll
Track overtime, attendance, and PTO
Develop and conduct educational programs to keep teammates up-to-date on DaVita policies, new
laws and regulations impacting work, and other information necessary to maintain teammates'
knowledge of department processes and goals
Know, understand, follow, and implement DaVita safety and security policies and procedures
Qualifications
Education, licenses, certifications, and experience required to fulfill the essential duties, include computer
skills as required.






Bachelor's degree in related field required; Master's degree in business or health administration
preferred
Minimum of three (3) years of business continuity experience required
Minimum of two (2) years' supervisory experience required
Experience in healthcare provider relations preferred
Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) preferred
Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
