The Project
1. Reimagine a current day TV show so that it takes place in the Puritan era and reflects the lives,
values and beliefs of those people.
a. Choose any kind of show: sitcom, drama, reality, gameshow, etc…each one will have its
own unique challenges and advantages.
2. The final product may either be prerecorded and shown to the class or performed live in class.
3. The final product must be between 7 and 30 minutes long.
4. The idea is to demonstrate knowledge of the Puritans – you are to address each heading on the
questions page and incorporate as many details as possible.
a. Groups must be at least 4 people, and at least one copy of each of the Puritan questions
must be represented in each group.
5. I will grade you on your ATTENTION TO DETAIL! This includes…
a. Dress
b. Proper place and time/historic background
c. Understanding of Puritan values and beliefs
i. Hard work
ii. Education
iii. Obedience
d. Understanding of broad Puritan beliefs
i. Predestination
ii. Reality of the devil
6. CLEVERNESS AND CREATIVITY WILL EARN THE HIGHEST POINTS
7. Presentations will begin on Monday, September 12
a. One group will present each day, and will sign up to determine the order.
b. I will be more lenient on the first group to go, and grade harder as the week goes on.
8. You will get time through the following days to work with your group – I will set aside 10-20
minutes of class to work with your group, as well as allow all of class on Friday, September 9 to
work with your group.
9. This will be the first major grade of the year, and will set the tone for the rest of the quarter!
10. The project will be worth 100 points.
