Summer Internship Program
Internships are an important part of the educational process. The experience gained
from an internship placement will enhance résumés as well as provide monetary gain
for students who are college bound. The HCC Internship Program is designed to
create opportunities for Harlem Youth, exposing them to career paths and
opportunities.

Eligibility Requirements and Selection Process = 3D3F
The program will be open to high school seniors and first year college students residing
in Harlem in the area defined by 110th to155th Street and all of the avenues between
the East River and the Hudson River.
Information on the internship program will be available on the HCC web site:
www.harlemcommonwealth.org, as well as informational packages will be sent out to
the high schools and community based organizations. Frederick Douglass Academy I,
Frederick Douglass Academy II, A. Phillip Randolph, Thurgood Marshall Academy
and Wadleigh Secondary School have been selected for special outreach.
Applications are invited for submission no later than March 31st.
Interviews by the Internship Committee will be completed by April 14th.
Final selections will be made by April 21st.
Letters will be sent out to successful applicants informing them of their placement no
later than April 28th
There will be a required four hour workshop on work place behavior held at the HCC
Offices. Each internship placement is contingent upon completion of this workshop.
This workshop will be scheduled on a date yet to be determined.
Applicants will be required to submit a 250 word essay on their career goals.
HCC will conduct weekly workshops for the participants that will include topics
relevant to workplace decorum, career goals and opportunities, workplace experience,
and financial literacy. These workshops will be conducted by HCC staff, members of
the HCC Scholarship committee and guest speakers. Participation will be mandatory.
