News and Notes:
Pre-orders are being accepted for GCS 2011-2012 Yearbooks! Order
forms have been sent home with students. The cost will be $5.00 before 6/4/12,
and $8.00 after 6/4/12. Forms and money can be turned in to the school
office…or you can turn the order in during Open House.

TUESDAY: 5th graders will be out on a field trip to Knott’s Berry Farm Adventures in Education;
they will leave at 8:45 am and return to the GCS campus for lunch at 12:00pm.
WEDNESDAY: The In-N-Out Burger Truck will be here today!! Regular lunch schedule will be
observed: Kindergarten 11:30 to 1215; 1st grade 11:30 to 12:15; 2nd grade 11:40 to 12:30; 3rd
grade 12:00 to 12:45; 4th grade 12:10 to 12:55; 5th grade 12:20 to 1:05; Jr. High 12:15 to 12:50.
THURSDAY: School will be dismissed at 11:30am today so that teachers can make final room
preparations for the big night!
THURSDAY: OPEN HOUSE is TONIGHT 5:00 to 8:00pm. Don’t forget Cub Scout Pack 611 will be
putting on a BBQ dinner fundraiser…so forget about fixing dinner at home! If you did not prepurchase dinner tickets, you will still be able to purchase meals the night of Open House.
FRIDAY: NO SCHOOL in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.
Looking Ahead on the Calendar:





There will be NO SCHOOL Friday, May 25th or Monday, May 28th in observance of the Memorial
Day holiday.
Mark your calendars for McTeacher Night…Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the McDonald’s
located at Valley View and Ball from 4:00 to 7:00pm.
The Spring Pops Concert for instrumental and choral students will be held Thursday, May 31,
2012 at 7:00pm.
The PST and Kindergarten Teachers will be hosting a Kindergarten Tea Tuesday, June 5th from
9:00-10:30am to celebrate the end of the school year; parents look for invitations coming home
May 23, 2012.
The last day of school is Thursday, June 7, 2012…school will be dismissed at 11:30am!
Very Important Information
All LIBRARY BOOKS are due by WEDNESDAY, MAY 30, 2012.
Books must be returned (or lost fee paid) for students to receive a yearbook.

informational meeting this Thursday at 5:00pm (8th grade students excluded).

during Open House to pick up Washington DC/NYC 2013 registration and itinerary information.
Looking Ahead on the Calendar:





Tuesday, May 29, 2012 is the deadline to turn in the order form and money for the Knott’s
Berry Farm trip that will take place Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Please let us know as soon as
possible if you are able to drive students for this trip.
Student check out dates are as follows: June 1 for 8th graders; June 5 for 6th and 7th graders. All
books must be returned to classroom teachers and to the library. In addition, all accounts must
be settled in the business office and cafeteria. Yearbooks and report cards will be issued only
when a student has been fully checked/signed off by the above dates.
Junior High students will celebrate the end of the school year at Knott’s Berry Farm
Wednesday, June 6th from 9:00am to 3:30pm.
8th grade students ONLY will be dismissed at 11:30am Monday, June 4th for final graduation
preparations.
All are invited to attend the 8th grade graduation ceremony which will be held in the Warehouse
Monday, June 4 at 7:00pm.
