3068. And Richard Howarth, of 13, Gloucestercrescent, Paddington, in the county of Middlesex, has given the like notice in respect of
the invention of "improvements in apparatus
for increasing the safety of railway passengers
and trains, signalling and forming a communication externally and internally between,., all
parts of such trains, lighting, warming and
securing the doors of the carriages, and indicating therein and at the stations the names of
the places at which the train stops."
As set forth in their respective petitions, all
recorded in the said office on the' 29th day of
November, 1865.
3070. And James Turner Hall, of Edgehill
Station, Liverpool, in the county of Lancaster,
• Gas Engineer, has given the like notice .in
respect of the invention of " improvements in
lamps for burning petroleum, paraffin, and other
hydro-carbon liquids without a glass chimney in
the.roofs of railway carriages and other like
places and positions."
3074. And John Henry Johnson, of 47, Lincoln'sinn-fields, in the county of Middlesex, Gentleman, has given the like notice in respect of
the invention of "improvements in sinking and
operating wells, and in the apparatus employed
therein."—A communication to him from abroad
by James Suggett, of Cortland, State of New
York, United States of America.
3075. And John Gamgee, of the Albert Veterinary College, Bayswater, in- the county of
Middlesex, Professor of Veterinary Surgery,
has given the like notice in respect of the
invention of "improvements in disinfecting
stables and cattle sheds, and in the apparatus
employed therein."
As set forth in their respective petitions, all
recorded in the said office on the 30th day of
November, 1865.
3081. And John Wilson, of Birmingham, in the
county of Warwick, Brassfounder, has given
the like notice in respect of the invention of
"certain improvements in the manufacture of
knobs for doors, cupboards, ashpans, and for
other like purposes."
3084. And Thomas Weatherburn Dodds, of.
Rotherham, in the county of York, Civil
Engineer, has given the like notice in respect
of the invention of " improvements in the
manufacture and treatment of railway bars,
tyres, and axles, also in the construction of
furnaces, machinery, and apparatus connected
therewith."
3086. And Henry Hedley, of South Shields, in
the county of Durham, Draper, and George
Ainsley, of the same place, Photographer, have
given the like notice in respect of the invention
of " improvements in sewing machines."
3087. And William Rowland Taylor, of the city
of Oxford, Brewer, has given the like notice in
respect of the invention of " improvements in
the treatment of grain, and in the process of
malting, and in the apparatus employed therein."
As set forth in their respective petitions, all
recorded in the said office on the 1st day of
December, 1865.
3091. And Edward Scott, of Manchester, in the
county of Lancaster, Engineer, has given the
like.notice in respect of the invention of " certain improvements in looms for weaving."—A
communication to him from abroad by Wilhelm
Gminder, of Reutlingen, in the Kingdom of
Wii'temberg.
3092. And Anna Josephine Wright, of No. 46,
' Rutland-square (West), in the city of Dublin,
has given the like notice in respect of the invention of "an improved mode of applying
photographic paper pictures to glass."
3094. And Richard Edmondson, of the firm of
Brooke and Edmondson, of Bank. Top Mill,
Blackburn, in the county of Lancaster, Manufacturer, has given the like notice in respect of
the invention of " improvements in pickers used
in looms for weaving."
As set forth in their respective petitions, all
recorded in the said office on the 2nd day of
December, 1865.
3112. And James Steart, of No. 5, Saint James'sroad, Bermondsey, in the county of Surrey,
Manufacturer, has given the like notice. in
respect of the invention of "an improved
method in the production of fibre from various
fibrous plants and animal products."
3114. And William Edward Newton, of the
. Office for Patents, 66, Chancery-lane, in the
county of Middlesex, Civil Engineer, has given
the like notice in respect of the invention of
" improvements in the construction of artificial
arms."—A communication to him from abroad
by Thomas Uren, of the city of New York, in
the United States of America.
As set forth in their respective petitions, both
recorded in the said office on the 4th day of
December, 1865.
3122. And Joseph Toth, .of Kecskemes, in the
county of Pesth, Hungary, in the Empire of
Austria, has given the like notice in respect of
the invention of "improvements in apparatus
• for preventing incrustation in steam boilers."
As set forth in his petition, recorded in the said
office on the 5th day of December, 1865.
3133. And Edwin Whele, of Aston, near Birmingham, in the county of Warwick, Engineer,
has given the like notice in respect of the invention of " an improved machine for dressing,
sifting, cleaning, and polishing fruit, coffee,
grain, and other matter, parts of which are
applicable to coffee sifting, roasting, cooling,
and cleaning, and other purposes."
As set forth in his petition, recorded in the said
office on the 6th day of December, 1865.
3147. And William Grosvenor, of Princethorpe
Priory, Rugby, in the county of Warwick, has
given the like notice in respect of the invention
of " improvements in means or apparatus to aid
in the teaching of arithmetic."
3150. And George Fitzjames Russell, of Montpelier-square, Hyde-park, in the county of
Middlesex, has given the like notice in respect
of the invention of "improvements in the
hoods, aprons, and dashes of carriages and
other vehicles."
As set forth in their respective petitions, both
recorded in the said office on the 7th day of
December, 1865.
3153. And Piarron de Mondesir, Engineer in the
High Roads Imperial Body, Paul Lehaitre,
Civil Engineer, and Augustin Jullienne, Engineer in Mechanics, all of 60, Bonlevart de
Strasbourg, Paris, in the Empire of Franco,
have given the like notice in respect of -the invention of " an improved mode of applying the
compression of air for ventilating purpose, and
Ihe compression of any gas for hurrying along
elastic fluids in conveying pipes."
3154. And Nathaniel John Holmes, of Number
Nine, Primrose-hill-road, London, Middlesex,
Gentleman, has given the like notice in respect
of the invention of " improvements in the applications of electricity for the testing and dis-
