What does the acronym PFA stand for? PFA stands for Parent Faculty Association. What is the PFA’s mission/goal? The PFA is made up of dynamic volunteers who are dedicated to enriching our children's school experience. On any given day, you can walk the school hallways and find a PFA volunteer at work—chaperoning an after-school enrichment class, serving pizza, organizing an assembly or shelving library books. It takes many volunteers, a dedicated staff and a supportive community to make our schools great. Learn more about our most recent accomplishments by visiting our website! Are the PFA and WCLEF the same thing? The PFA and WCLEF have existed and worked together for over 20 years to provide our children and schools with the best educational tools and state of the art facilities. The Woodcliff Lake Educational Foundation (WCLEF) is a community organization whose purpose is to provide grants for items not available to faculty through normal budgeting channels. The WCLEF secures resources from individuals, corporations and foundations. These resources are distributed to support programs for the benefit of the students in our Woodcliff Lake Public Schools. Improving access to technological front-line material has been a major focus. Both organizations support the children and faculty in Woodcliff Lake and we encourage all of our parents to volunteer and support both organizations. Remember without YOU we cannot continue to provide all that we do for our children and schools. Please help by sharing your time, talent and resources. How can I sign up for PFA emergency alerts (E-Alerts)? • Go to www.woodcliff-lake.com and sign in with your username and password • Click "Access Info" in the top left corner • Select "Subscriptions," then "Manage Subscriptions," and then "Other Areas of Interest" • Scroll down until you see "PFA" and click on the box • Click "I'm done" You can also use this process for other areas that interest you. Your continued generosity enables us to bring many “extras” to our children’s lives. Each year, the PFA provides: • • • All of the academic and character-building assemblies for both Dorchester and Woodcliff Middle Schools Social and recreational programs Hospitality programs for our families and staff such as the Kindergarten Popsicle Social and the various Teacher/Staff Appreciation event In addition to the countless other ways the PFA supports the day-to-day operations at school, we also make larger gifts that improve and enhance our schools. The PFA has assisted in major technology upgrades via iPad donations for our students, safety measures for all classrooms, and we have gifted Dorchester with a state-of-the-art sound system in the cafeteria. What’s the best way to find out about upcoming PFA events, activities and enrichments? The PFA website and PFA calendar are great resources you should check frequently! Additionally, the district’s weekly TIPS mailings are chock-full of important information and timely updates. I’d like to volunteer and help the PFA. Where can I sign up? Alternatively, you can attend our next meeting and ask your question in person. I have an idea or constructive feedback I’d like to present to the PFA. What’s the best way to do it?
