“A WORN PATH” comic task FHS AmLit / Cannon You will need to first read the short story, of course. http://images.pcmac.org/SiSFiles/Schools/GA/BenHillCounty/FitzgeraldHigh/Uploads/Docu mentsCategories/Documents/A%20Worn%20Path.pdf (Or go to my site tinyurl.com/FHS-JFC and go to the AmLit 4Q section) I also gave questions to ensure you understand the story before you begin this task. You may also want to focus on the following to help as you complete this task: What key aspects of Phoenix Jackson's physical appearance stand out for you? How does what she wears or carries add to your sense of her character? How does what she does with her body add to your sense of her character? What metaphors (especially visual metaphors) add to your sense of her character? What biographical information does the author provide to flesh out her portrait? What key aspects of setting stand out for you? What details (color, tone, and particular props) stand out for you? What changes in setting strike you as important? What details in those changes stand out for you? What is most vivid for you about the hunter? What stands out for you in his appearance, dialogue, actions, and behavior? Which other characters seem particularly important to Phoenix's story? For each of them, note what stands out in their appearance, dialogue, actions, and/or behavior. List any thoughts and quotes—from Pheonix or other characters—that seem especially important. Explicate them. Plot the sequence of events. This is the original site from which I got this lesson: http://edsitement.neh.gov/lesson-plan/eudora-weltys-worn-path-graphical-representation Be sure to check the sections “Background” and “Lesson Activities” for more information and directions. The two planning pages I gave in class are in the LA section. We’ll be in the computer lab on Monday (3/24) to complete your task with a site to develop your comic on this story. No drawing skills needed!
