Anaïs Nin (1903 – 1977) ANCIENT CIVILISATIONS: Pieces of rock art from the Upper Paleolithic and Ancient Egypt, Roman oil lamps with erotic reliefs and reproductions of some of the frescoes found in the streets and houses of Pompeii. The city in which people experimented love, passion and eroticism with no taboos. The museum also has a collection of illustrations from the artist Antoni Miró reproducing pornographic scenes found on ceramic pieces from Ancient Greece. JAPAN: Shunga engravings with sexual scenes including the most varied actors from the Japanese society (Eighteenth century – Nineteenth century). EROTIC SPANISH CINEMA: The beginnings of the pornographic Spanish cinema are: “El Confesor” (The Confessor), “El Ministro” (The Minister) and “El Consultorio de Señoras” (The Ladies’ Medical Centre), three short films commissioned by King Alfonso XIII Borbón (1886 – 1931), grandfather of the current King Juan Carlos I, shot in Barcelona’s Chinatown on the 1920s. These short films are the only ones of these characteristics which are kept in good conditions, as most of them were destroyed by Franco’s regime. PIN UP CULTURE: History of the PIN UP culture (end of the nineteenth century – beginning of the twentieth century) and collection of the first erotic magazines forbidden in Europe.
