In 1925, Bob Gibson served barbecue from a
makeshift oak plank table nailed to a sycamore
tree in his backyard. Out of his hand dug pit,
the aroma of hickory smoked pork drifted lazily
over farms and fields drawing people from miles
away. Long lines and wide smiles made it clear
to this L&N railroad worker and giant of a man,
his future was in barbecue.
The popularity of this backyard buffet
convinced Big Bob to open his first restaurant
specializing in authentic slow cooked barbecue.
Word spread of his hand pulled pork and smoked
chicken slathered in a White Barbecue Sauce.
Three things insured his success; his original
barbecue flavors, a charismatic personality,
and that tangy White Sauce.
Over 90 years later Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q
is still smokin’ and using secret time-tested
recipes that have won over 10 World Barbecue
