…Boise State defeated San Diego State 61-46 Sunday, at Taco Bell Arena. The Broncos extended their
win streak to seven games with the victory and improved to 17-6 overall and 7-3 in Mountain West play.
…San Diego State is now 18-6 overall and 8-3 in MW play. The Aztecs are tied with Wyoming atop the
MW standings at 8-3, Boise State is a half game behind.
…Derrick Marks scored 19 points, passing Coby Karl for third on Boise State’s all-time scoring list. Marks
now has 1,706 points in his career. He is just the third Bronco all-time to eclipse 1,700 points.
…James Webb III scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Webb had 14 points in the second half.
…Nick Duncan scored 12 points, including nine in the first half. Duncan hit a trio of three-pointers in a
60-second stretch to help Boise State build a lead. With the Broncos leading 8-4, Duncan hit triples on
three consecutive possessions to take a 17-4 lead.
…Boise State never trailed in the game. San Diego State used a 10-0 run in the second half to get within
four at 34-30 with 15:01 remaining. Rob Heyer made a three-pointer to spark a 10-2 run in less than
three minutes and push the lead back to 12 at 44-32.
...Boise State’s seven consecutive conference wins are tied for the most in school history. It is the fourth
time the Broncos have won seven conference games in a row, the previous three happened in the Big
Sky (1995-96, 1987-88, 1986-87).
...This is the fourth win streak of at least seven games for Boise State in the Leon Rice era. The longest in
Rice's five-year tenure is eight (twice). The longest win streak in school history is 10 (1987-88).
…Boise State is now 2-8 in the all-time series against San Diego State. The 15-point margin of victory is
the largest by either team in the series. Seven of the previous eight games had been decided by six
points or fewer.
…Boise State committed a season-low six turnovers, including just two in the second half. The Broncos
have committed fewer than 10 turnovers in seven of their 10 MW games.
…Boise State led 27-10 in the first half. The 17-point lead is Boise State’s largest in the all-time series
against San Diego State.
…The game was played in front of a crowd of 10,511 at Taco Bell Arena. The game was a sellout, with
the official attendance reflecting the number of fans through the door. It is the 26th-largest home crowd
in Boise State history and the largest since March 2, 2013, against Colorado State.
…Sunday saw the sixth crowd of at least 10,000 in Leon Rice’s five years at the helm. There have been 39
crowds of at least 10,000 in program history.
…Montigo Alford played 19 minutes off the bench and scored seven points. Alford had played 19
minutes combined in the previous three games. He also had three rebounds, an assist and a steal.
…Boise State shot 10-for-24 from three-point range. The Broncos have made at least 10 three-pointers
in eight of their last nine games. Boise State was 8-for-16 on three-pointers in the first half.
…Boise State led 30-18 at halftime. The Broncos shot 45.8 percent in the half (11-for-24), including 8-for16 from three-point range.
…Boise State was 15-for-19 from the free throw line. The Broncos did not attempt a free throw until
9:36 remained in the game. Derrick Marks was 8-for-10 from the line.
…Boise State held San Diego State to 18 points in the first half on 25 percent shooting (7-for-28). The 18
points are the second-fewest allowed in a first half by the Broncos this season (17 against San Jose State,
Jan. 21).
…Boise State is also home for its next game, Wednesday (Feb. 11) against Air Force. The Falcons have
won back-to-back games, defeating New Mexico and Wyoming last week.
