Its population is believed to be declining but not at a rate to qualify for NT or a threatened category. It is therefore assessed as LC. Geographic Range Range Description: Widespread in the Euphrates and Tigris drainage. Current Population Trend: Decreasing Habitat and Ecology (see Appendix for additional information) Inhabits large rivers, marshes, lakes and reservoirs. Systems: Freshwater Use and Trade Locally taken as a food fish. Threats There are many threats in the area affection this species but none seem to be strong enough to let the species decline so fast, that it qualify for a threat category.
