SUPPLIES: PLAYERS: SET-UP: PLAYING THE GAME

BUBBLE TROUBLE
SUPPLIES:
•4 large mixing bowls (clear ones work best)
•Enough chocolate milk or pudding to fill up half of each bowl
•16 pieces of soft bubble gum (Bubble Yum, Bubblicious, etc.)
•Paper towels for players to clean up
•A timer
PLAYERS:
Choose one person from each team, grade, or gender to participate in this
game (four players total).
SET-UP:
While one leader explains the game, another leader pours the chocolate milk
or pudding into each bowl and adds four pieces of bubble gum.
PLAYING THE GAME:
Players have TWO FULL MINUTES to “bob” (no hands allowed!) in the mixing
bowl for gum and blow the biggest bubble. They can try over and over again
until time runs out. They can blow a bubble using only one piece of gum,
or they can try to find all four pieces, which will take more time and require
more chewing BUT will likely result in a bigger bubble. The strategy is up
to them. Judges need to carefully watch every bubble blown so they can
accurately declare the winner when time is up.
**VARIATIONS:
“Bubble Trouble” can be played by hiding the gum inside a wide variety
of items. Consider playing “Bubble Trouble: Oatmeal Edition!” or “Bubble
Trouble: Creamed Corn Edition!” and so on.
**HINT:
After you’ve explained the details of the game, give students the opportunity
to sit down if they don’t want to participate. Never pressure or humiliate a
student into playing a game. If a student sits down, simply replace him/her
with another student.
