9th - 12th Grade Students - Win an iPad Mini and House Points!
Design a campaign for any of the following topics
● Being Safe Online
● Practicing Good Digital Citizenship
● Texting/No Sexting
● Stop Cyberbullying
● Do you feel too empowered behind the keyboard?
● Social Media Do’s and Don’ts
Criteria
Come up with a complete campaign to get the word out on the chosen topic. You must
campaign for your topic to get votes. Your campaign must include:

A 1­3 minute commercial ­ A TV commercial to promote your topic. This commercial
must not mention “Vote for my campaign” but should be 100% on topic as if it was on
TV to get the word out about the topic. Minimum time is 1 minute and maximum is 3
minutes. A catchy slogan will really help you win!
● A flier ­ These may be hung around the school to promote campaign
● Google doc with works cited ­ if needed. Taking your own pictures or creating your
own music in garageband (or other music creator) will get a spotlight on Darlington’s
Website. If you want to advertise your video for votes create your own material. Videos
cannot be uploaded to our website or YouTube with borrowed music.
Students must remember basic copyright rules by using the chart below. All pictures, music
or other sources must be cited on a Google Doc.
Voting and Judging
Every Upper School faculty member and student will have the opportunity to vote one time for
their favorite campaign.
The judging panel will consist of 3 faculty members and students. The panel members will
use the following rubric to judge each campaign.
The winner will be calculated by the following point system
● 50%: Votes received from students and faculty
● 50%: Judges ­ Ms. Reneau, Ms. Pate, Mr. Hamil, Kia Sims, Sara Beth Cline, Anna

December 3rd - All entries due by midnight after we return from Thanksgiving break.
December 5th - 6th - Voting and Judging
December 9th - Winners announced
Winners
1st Place - iPad Mini for a single entry (white or black 16GB model) or iTunes gift cards in the
amount of $350 divided equally for any students who want to enter as a group
2nd Place - $50 iTunes gift card
3rd Place - $25 iTunes gift card
House Points
1 house point per entry
500 points to the house with the most entries
100 points to the house of the grand prize winner

Can I use copyrighted photo or image?
Images
• Photos you take or from free sites- CreativeCommons.org are best
• Up to 5 by the same artist/creator
• Up to 15 of a collection (ex. National Geographic)
• Permission need to exceed these amounts
• Items must be cited
Can I use copyrighted music?

Yes
• Music you make or from free sites - freeplaymusic.com is best
• Music must be purchased (CD, iTunes or other downloadable site)
• 10% or 30 seconds (whichever is less)
• Projects with music used may not be uploaded to the internet, it’s
only for student/teacher exchange
• Permission need to exceed these amounts
• Items must be cited
