INTERNSHIPs IN BALI
THE PREMISE
Are you a wordsmith with permanently itchy feet and
a thirst for adventure? Do you want to spend your
uni holidays living on an island paradise writing and
publishing a travel guide?
This Australian summer, Global Hobo is offering allinclusive travel-writing internships in the uber-hip
Balinese province of Canggu.
Over the course of a month, a team of word-savvy
hobos will be given cross-cultural language training
and intensive writing tutelage focused on travel
features, editorials and reviews courtesy of writers
and editors from VICE, Surfing Life, Huffington Post,
Your Friends House, and, of course, Global Hobo. In
their free time, interns will be exploring every nook
and cranny of southern Bali so they can put together
a comprehensive destination guide and release it as
an eBook for sale online.
WHAT YOU GET
Daily travel-writing workshops with a range of
industry professionals
40 hours of small-group Bahasa Indonesia language
classes
Two Balinese cultural classes (woodcarving and
dance)
Dorm-style accommodation in a Balinese mansion or
villa, complete with WiFi and a pool
Airport transfer on arrival
Sweet deals on surfboard, motorbike and helmet hire
What’s more, if you’re a journalism or
communications student, participation in the
internship gives you the potential to receive a full
subject’s worth of university credit as part of your
university’s Work Integrated Learning program. That
being said, the internships are open to anyone who
wishes to broaden their experience and writing
portfolio irrespective of year or tertiary enrolment.

WHO WE ARE
Born from empty pockets, an open mind and
a lust for adventure, Global Hobo is the definitive
online hub for world-savvy travellers who steer clear
of the beaten track. This one-of-a-kind collective of
storytellers provides a daily dose of travel-related
entertainment, as well as guides to the most
tantalising experiences Earth has to offer.
We can tell you about that time we hitchhiked around
Iraq or saved a baby toucan in the Amazon, teach you
how to shag your ski instructor or get a good night’s
sleep in an airport, and reveal the location of secret
hot springs and underground discos.
We are our audience, and with our tongues
wedged firmly in our cheeks, spend our lives trotting
the globe and documenting every bit of it.
We party together, travel together and write together.
Come join us.
We get around.
