Chagall for Children
“Discover Your Inner Artist!”
Members Only Sneak Peek May 19
May 20 – September 5
Through various forms of creation, children are encouraged to unleash their inner artist! Weave
tapestries, create mosaics, and use touch screens to digitally alter masterpieces, all while gaining a
better appreciation of artistic expression. This exhibit features reproductions of masterpieces produced
by Russian-born French painter Marc Chagall.

My Bruce County: Youth Art Show
Members Only Sneak Peek May 19
May 20 – September 5
Come and view creative pieces of two dimensional art in a variety of mediums produced by youth across
Bruce County in grades six through eight. All pieces reflect the vision of what the county they call home
means to them. This is a juried art show in partnership with the Southampton Art School.

This exhibit reveals stories of community and technological growth within Bruce County that follow the
emergence of specialists, home conveniences, service clubs, telecommunications and power providers
during the 20th century. Explore, learn, and create past, present, and future inventions at our
Technology Lab.

Time Explorers Backpacks
Bring the family and check out a backpack for a more in-depth self-guided tour of our permanent
exhibits. They offer games, activities and books to gain a deeper understanding of the following areas:
The First Nations Gallery, Bevan’s General Store, and the Home Sweet Home Shanty Exhibit. Come back
again and again to try a new exhibit as we change the contents often!

Summer Events
Eco Explorers Bus Trip, June 3 (PA Day)
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Eco Explorers will be venturing out of the Museum for a full-day trip to Scenic Caves Nature Adventures!
Bring your outdoor clothes and a packed lunch (we’ll provide bus snacks) as we go exploring through the
woods, learning about our environment around us! Non-Eco Explorers youth ages 7-12 are invited to
sign up for this trip as well.

Reptiles Alive
July 4 – August 29
Mondays, 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Journey into the world of reptiles and amphibians as you get up close and personal with snakes, lizards
and other creatures every Monday throughout the summer. Hands-on and informative discussions
combine for an entertaining and unforgettable moment, so bring your camera to capture it!

KidZone Summer Day Camp

Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays - 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Ages 5-12)
Hours of adventure, exploration, crafts, trips, and games await summer campers in a fun and safe
environment! Register early to avoid disappointment. Early drop-off and late pick-up available for an
additional charge. See website for themes and trip dates.

First Nations Cultural Demonstrations
July 5 – September 1, Tuesdays and Thursdays
1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Connect with First Nation demonstrators as they showcase their cultural arts in the First Peoples’ exhibit
gallery. Discover the beauty of how black ash baskets, quill and beaded art pieces are made along with
dream catchers and more. Specific themes and dates can be found on the Museum website.

Women's Institute Fridays
July 8 - September 2
11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Join members of the Bruce County District Women's Institute each Friday for lemonade and cookies!
Discover the history of the log buildings at the Museum, learn about how the W.I. facilitated the
creation of the original Bruce County Museum, and see and take part in quilting, knitting and other
demonstrations.
LEGO® Fridays
July 8 – September 2
Learn, build and play with LEGO® and DUPLO®! We supply the bricks; you supply the imagination in our
weekly themed contests (10 a.m. – 12 p.m.). Plus, step up your game with our LEGO® WeDo workshops
at 10:30 a.m. and build programmable robots.
Parental supervision required.

TE@M – Workshop (Leaders in Training)
July 4 & 5
10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Youth ages 12 – 16 will develop leadership skills and confidence, learn traits required for volunteering
and employment, and experience new activities. Within this experience, youth will participate in an
exclusive team building exercise with At Last Adventure. Youth will have a better understanding of what
it’s like to volunteer at the Museum, and will develop skills that are helpful in any community
involvement in the future.

6th Annual Marine Heritage Festival Launch Party
July 22
5 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Celebrate the start of the Marine Heritage Festival at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre with
FREE admission and marine themed fun! Enjoy live music with the Bobby Dean Blackburn Trio, a cash
BBQ provided by the Rotary Club of Southampton, a cash bar, and water play for the kids. Plus come
and decorate the official Marine Heritage Festival boat.
Fun with Flowers & Nature Day Camp
July 25 – 29, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Ages 7 – 10
Start each morning creating artwork with flowers and nature in various mediums. Enjoy acrylic and
watercolour painting, tissue paper and 3D plasticine art, pencil drawing and shading. Following lunch,
children are treated to an afternoon session of Summer Day Camp with outdoor adventures and games!
This all-day class is a partnership between the Southampton Art School and BCM&CC. Drop off at GC
Huston, pick up at the Museum.
$280 for the full week.

The Northwest Passage in Story and Song
August 18, 7:30 p.m.
Join adventurer, tour guide and singer/songwriter David Newland as he shares tales of the Northwest
Passage in photos, stories and song. A high-energy show that offers unique insight into the culture,
history and environment of the Far North!

Bruce County Heritage Farm Show
August 19-21
Visit the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre’s booth featuring the heritage of Bruce County.
Enjoy a fun-filled weekend including tractor pulls, entertainment, women’s programming and great
food, all at the Bruce County Heritage Association property south of Paisley. The 2016 Feature Tractor is
“Case”.
