PRESS RELEASE – IMBM 2015 541 delegates attended the 3rd Injection, Blow Moulding & PET International Conference. In the Opening Session, Mr. Kamal P. Nanavaty welcomed all the delegates and received different events which have taken place in the last two years. He noticed the sending of spacecraft to Mars, drop in crude oil price, drop in good price and increase in business opportunities. He mentioned very big opportunities for plastic industry in terms of raw material and processing machinery. First Keynote speaker Mr. Kazoo Takamura, Director & Executive Officer, Global Strategy Division of Toshiba Machine Co. Ltd. gave an overview of Toshiba industries and their perception of Indian market. He observed that Indian market for automotive industry is the highest in the world. On the global strategy, he observed that the advancement and expansion strategies are sides of the same coin. He also observed that the main key for success is to make local products for local markets, policy is to produce cutting edge products. Mr. R S Sodhi, Managing Director of Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (AMUL), narrated in a very lucid manner the success story of Amul. He stressed that Amul is a co-operative society of some 35 thousand farmers. He also noticed that the visionary like Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Shri Tribhovandas Patel and Varghese Kurian have helped the growth of Amul. He noticed that farmers get unto 85% of revenue from what customer pays. Farmers are part of complete chain of “Cow to Customer”. Over the last 10 years they have added the new products and changed the packaging material which has helped them to be the leaders in the market. Mr. Ajay Shah, President - Polymers and crackers of Reliance Industries, gave the overview of Polyolefins and observed that outlook for India 2015 and beyond is very bright and encouragingly he sees big potential in polypropylene and speciality grades of Polyethylene. Mr. Didier Chomier, Business Development & Technical Director of Solvay gave the overview of high performance of Polyamides for Injection and Blow Moulding applications. With the increasing markets in automotive and pharmaceutical the growth potential for engineering plastics in India. Ms. Bee Lin, Head of Asia Markets of ICIS talked about China polyolefins industry and the impact of coal based plants. Coal is a very important feedstock for China and it can compete with other feedstocks. Mr. Wolfgang Roth, Manager Applications Engineering of Wittmann Battenfeld speaks about the injection moulding of micro cellular products which leads to the reduction of weight. The micro cellular product has very good appearance and mechanical properties due to very fine foam size. Mr. Manish Sharma, National Sales Head of Fanuc India talked about new emerging technology using all electric injection moulding machines. He anticipates improvement in the operations and reduction in the waste for injection moulding process. Mr. Vishal Agarwal, President of Yudo Hot Runner India, talked about multilayered technology and automation in injection moulding process. The multilayer products have big potential in automotive industry due to special properties needed in these products. Ms. Lyn Zhou, Marketing Director – Sales of Tederic talked about injection moulding machines requiring high tonnage. She stressed upon the advantages of this new trend. Mr. V Kannan, Managing Director of Mold - Masters Technologies, gave a review on new development in hot runner systems and their certain advantages of moulding high performance objects. Mr. Rainer Armbruster, General Manager of Foboha (Germany) GmbH, briefly explained latest developments in new mold technologies and he believes that these have good opportunities in India. Mr. A. Dayanand Reddy, Managing Director of Vasantha Tool Crafts, briefly introduced the recent innovations in mold making. He further added that India has big potential for this market. Mr. Ramaiah Muthusubramanian, Global Packaging Development Director – Laundry of Hindustan Unilever Limited, he introduced the new trends in consumer packaging especially in view of new lifestyle. Mr. Kapil Sethi, Director - Global strategic Sourcing & Mr. Deepak Aggarwal, General Manager - Global Strategic Sourcing of Whirlpool Corporation reviewed the growth of plastics in consumer and appliances. He discussed the current practice and further trends in this sector. Mr. Sanjay Mishra, Senior General Manager of The Supreme Industries Limited discussed the importance of material handling systems. This aspect is particularly important with increasing automation. Mr. Ravikiran Kombde, General Manager of Videocon Industries also touched upon the use of the plastics in appliances market. He believes that this sector will grow very rapidly. Mr. Satish Subramanium, Global Head - Sales and Marketing of Cosmo Films explained the benefits of Inmould labelling. This particular aspect is important considering the rapid growth of products which requires labelling. Mr. Alan Chen, Director - International Sales of Shini Plastics Technologies described the process of effective dying of raw material before moulding. If the polymer is dried properly, the result in product has better mechanical properties. Mr. Vikas Swami, Vice President of KUKA Robotics India talked about robotics in the plastic industry. The robotics played an important role in moulding, material movement and assembly. Mr. Kiran Nataraj, CEO of Entrib Technologies talked about the real time monitoring and analytics in the plastic manufacturing process and explained how this is important for manufacturing the plastic products. In the evening session, Mr. Radhakrishnan Pillai, Founder – Director of Chanakya Institute of Public Leadership (CIPL) talked about “Chanakaya Niti for Industries" for business in a very simple and lucid manner. His lecture first explained who Chanakya was and how his principles have been effective in the present day business. The strategies and leadership are interlinked. The 7 points he mentioned were:1. Intelligence and spirit 2. Given to seeing elders 3. Trusted in speech 4. Not breaking promises 5. Greatful 6. Desires of training 7. Easily approachable He recommended one should consult the appropriate person or persons before starting the business. Mr. Vivek Chaand Sehgal, Chairman of Samvardhana Motherson Group narrated the story of the journey of "Samvardhana Motherson Group”. He informed that their company started in 1975 with a capital of Rs. 1000 and today they are a 7 billion dollar company. Initially, they started the business in 1997 of wire and cable making. The mothers group declared their 5 year plan in their annual report and giving 30-40% returns to the share holders. Their vision is to make the company worth 26 billion dollars by 2020. Mr. Shankar Karnik, General Manager of ExxonMobil Lubricants Pvt. Ltd. presented the outlook for energy. He reviewed the situation till 2040. Mr. Vimal Kedia, Managing Director of Manjushree Technopack Limited reviewed the Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) industry and its future. With increasing needs for packaging and different products needed for lifestyle he sees very rapid growth of PET industry. Mr. Asim Parekh, Vice President – Technical of Coca - Cola India reviewed the future of PET in India for beverage industries and other related products. He stressed about the need and scope for the innovations in the consumer products and in particular FMCG sector. Mr. Amitabh Agrawal, Sr. General Manager - Sales & Marketing of ASB International Pvt. Ltd. discussed the PET machinery for PET packing. He described the need for innovations and the large opportunities for the PET machinery. Mr. Laurent Fournier, India Country Director and Managing Director along with Mr. Max Duclot, Zone Senior Aseptic Specialist & Senior Dairy Officer of Sidel talked about aseptic PET systems for packaging of milk and related products. Mr. Dhruv Shah, Executive Director of Prasad Group of Companies discussed the automation in PET plant. According to him, the automation will give very big improvement in the plant economy. Mr. Vishnu Jajoo, Executive Director of Shriji Polymers briefly reviewed the pharmaceutical packaging in India. He talked about the new trends and evolution in this sector. The Panel Discussion was on Economics, Safety, Recyclability of PET Packaging India. The Moderator was Mr. Kamal P. Nanavaty & Mr. Rakesh Gaur, Sector head Polyester from Reliance Industries Limited. The Different Panelist were Mr. Vijay Habbu Reliance Industries, Mr. Vimal Kedia from Manjushree Technopack, Mr. Imteyaz Ali, Mr. Haren sanghavi from AIPMA, Mr. Sunil Marwah from Reliance Industries, Mr. Ramesh Ramachandran from GlaxoSmithKline, Mr. Aditya Dalmia from Polypro Industries touched upon many aspects such as : 1. Recent Notifications ban on PET Packaging in Pharmaceutical industry & a litigation in NGT. 2. Use of PET in different sector. 3. Techno commercial aspects of PET recycling for different products. 4. Use of recycled plastics and PET in road construction. 5. Use of PET in chemical recycling 6. Role of Government affiliated bodies like ICPE/ CIPET/ NCL etc. in influencing regulations. 7. Waste management in various states. 8. Role of industries, educational institutes, professional bodies & NGO for improving the perception of common man and other about plastics. Mr. Andreas Lichtenauer, Managing Partner of Kautex Maschinembau GmbH briefly reviewed the blow moulding process in automotive industry. He informed the new trends will not be just the reduction in the way of component but more precise moulding. Mr. Utpal Sheth, Senior Director of IHS chemical reviewed the global polyolefins industry. He anticipated a healthy growth rate for polyolefin’s industry in India and globally. Ms. Aster Teo, Application marketing manager - marketing centre moulding of Borouge talked about caps and closures materials for packaging industry. The future of their industrial products is engineered for good growth. Mr. Christian Muller, Managing Director of W. Muller GmbH describes the extrusion of blow moulding process and discussed the importance of partnerships and joint efforts. Mr. Celestino Spiga, Business Developer Manager of Magic Machines (Italy) briefly reviewed the new technology in blow moulding machinery. He explained the advantages of Hi-tech full electric blow moulding technology. Mr. Vagish Dixit, Managing Director of Alpla India described various aspects of “Make in India”. He reviewed different aspects of manufacturing in India of making products in India. Mr. Vinay Agarwal, Chief Marketing Officer of Creative Group of Industries described various problems associated with the process of converting the new material into final products. Mr. Radha Mohan Gupta, Regional Procurement Director - South Asia of Reckitt Benckiser reviewed the technological advances in blow moulding technology and how this are related to consumer expectations. Mr. Sunil Dhawan, Director of SSf Plastics & Mr. Viswanathan Kannan, CEO of SSF Plastpro briefly reviewed the rigid plastics packaging systems. They discussed the possibility of One stop solution to rigid packaging industry. Mr. Dahyalal Pandya , Chief Executive Officer of Weener Empire Plastics reviewed the personal care product sector. He discussed the future trends of packaging of personal care products in India & globally.
